I'm not much of a church-goer, but that sounds good to me, Rev.

After two hours of band practice yesterday with no break-in at all, closed-back cab and Remedy at full throttle (now I can flip the switch to full power mode!!!), BL at three clicks, all I can say is that this thing's got me goin'... Zep never sounded better. BTW, I love my Gold, but the Creamback simply RAWKS!! Tons of tone!!

My 1x12 cab was delivered early from Humbucker (they initially told me it was going to be a 10-12 week build time for a "custom" grill cloth color). It took less than half that time! Thanks Dr. Z for the quick build!! I ordered it with a G12H30, which does not seem to be too popular... My first impression was that I thought it sounded REALLY good. It sounds great with pedals and without. It was also as loud as my 2x10 Z cab. I then took that speaker out and put in the Creamback I ordered a few weeks ago. The Creamback sounded REALLY good too! I'm not sure if it sounds "better", to me, than the G12H30 - but I have NO complaints. Also, it's not as quiet as I thought it was going to be. It's still very loud with the Remedy even on the 20 watts setting - but it is quieter than the G12H30. To be honest, the two sound similar to me when the volume was around the same level (up a bit for the Creamback). However, I only played around with the G12H30 for an hour or so before I replaced it with the Creamback - so maybe I didn't get used to it's tone fully. I have a few hours now on the Creamback. I wish I had another 1x12 cab to A/B them. Maybe I will swap speakers again after really getting to know the Creamback and then see how I feel about the G12H30. Anyway, they are both great sounding speakers IMO.. Here are some pics - because pics are always fun to look at Before: After:

^^^ Man, I LOVE that custom grill cloth on both the Remedy and cab! As you know, mine is exactly the same and I think we must be the only two to have it that way! I got some great compliments the other night at an audition, for this look Glad you're loving the Remedy, regardless of the speaker! I can't imagine any speaker making the Remedy actually quiet, just maybe a quieter!!

The more I play the Creamback; the more I realize it really is a lot quieter than I thought (even though it still is loud if that makes sense). I catch myself turning up the volume more than I ever did before. When I used to turn it up to where I turn it up to now - I would worry about pictures falling off the walls.

Yep, I could see that - moving from a G12H30 to a Creamback (or a G12 65 in my case) as it shows a -3dB reduction in sensitivity, which is certainly noticeable. Glad you're enjoying the new speaker

Hey guys, How does the creamback compare to the greenback on the top end? Does it have more chime, less, same, etc? I'm really interested in trying out the creamback for my remedy, but I've always been an alnico speaker guy, and the last greenback I owned just didn't have enough top end presence for me.
Thanks, Brendan

The creamback to me is just a bigger fatter sounding greenback with more bass and a bigger sound especially open back. I closed mine up for about a month just to expereince the difference in tone and from now on mine is going to stay open back. Yesterday my strat souned fattter then the butchers dog through that creamback. The top end was clear and present the midrange had that sweet woody tone. My lead tone had some serious snarl and crunch thanks to the animal and the Catalinbread DLS. Heck even my fuzz sounded fat. I was using the alnico gold and now the creamback has really allowed me the freedom of playing at 40 watts and that makes a huge difference as well.
I have been able to get more out of the remedy with the creamback then I was with the Gold. The gold has always been one of my fav speakers but I prefer the creamback with the remedy its just matches up better with it to me then the gold and I think alot of other guys have found that out as well here on the forum.

You guys were spot on......got the creamback yesterday and it sounds fantastic. Runnin' it closed back. Balanced all the way around as compared to the V30 (still a very good speaker). Doesn't have the peaky lows and highs that I was gettin' with the V30. And the reduction in volume and overall weight is a welcome benny. Thanks guys for the recommendation!

Well I got the Creamback finally a week ago but wanted wait until after band practice last night to give a review. The real test is seeing how well it sounded in the band mix. Well I absolutely love this speaker!!!
revrand's review comparing it to the gold (which I replaced) is bang on. I was able to play at a civil volume with the lower efficient Creamback, with more clarity and was getting some nice cleans when dialing back the volume knob.
Does anyone know if the break in time for a Creamback is less than a Gold?

Not sure about the break in time but I will say that mine is still breaking in and continues to sound better everytime I play through it. I am a strat guy through and through. Heck, I almost sold my les paul but everytime I play my les paul through that creamback I have a hard time putting that Les paul down! The creamback with humbuckers is something special from clean to scream and everything in between.

I installed a Creamback a couple days ago - holy crap - this speaker sounds good! It does sound similar to my Weber Legacy speakers (in my 2x12) but it's really fat and smooth but still has all that Greenback goodness. I love it in my 1x12.

Just sat and read through this whole thread, very interesting. Thanks everyone. I've been playing my Remedy through a 1x12 with V30 for a few months now and always enjoyed it. However I did think it could be quite harsh on the top end. My friend Rich just brought me round a creamback to put in (he bought a gold as he needed more clean headroom for the gigs he's doing). Well what a sound!!!! The Airbrake on and comparing my PRS DGT collection he had it singing. Much smoother and fatter and more suited for the classic rock thing I do than the V30. We had it open back by the way. Looking forward to trying it more and gigging it, luckily he's gigged it a fair bit and its already pretty broken in. Just thought I'd share my first experience with the creamback. those DGT pickups were amazing!!!

Thanks for the info - how would you compare the Creamback to the WGS et-65? kc Those are two different speakers for sure. The main difference is the ET-65 has a large dust cap that takes off quite a bit of high end, the Creamback (and greenbacks in general) have a standard British dustcap.
