Really digging the Creamback so far--very Greenback-y but with more/tighter bass, great mid shape. Pretty dang smooth on top for a brand new speaker. Very manageable in terms of volume--a lot less deafening than a Gold, say. Three thumbs up! Maybe four!

Yep--just spent a few more minutes with the Rem/Creamback/Lester--VERY satisfying tones at reasonable volume (w/ Bl at 2/3 clicks, of course). This thing is awesome right out of the box, I gotta say--and I'm usually kind of horrified at the way new Celestions sound pre-break-in. My guess is that it'll break in pretty quickly, and the mids/top will just get sweeter. Great choice as a 1x12 w/ the Rem.

Nice! I've never owned a Greenback, or any ceramic mag Celestion for that matter. But this one has my interest up.

I'm actually a bit surprised at how good it is. Something's been sticking in my ear with the Rem 'til now--wasn't quite satisfied with the Gold (great tone but way too loud) or the G12H30 (too...G12H30). The V30 was surprisingly good but still not great. I think the CB is pretty dang close to great. Diggin' it--can't wait to get it broken in.

I'm definitely curious about WGS stuff; love the prices and the fact that they're assembled in the US. When I posted about them in speakers/cabs, though, there wasn't a whole lot of response. Then the Creambacks showed up at Sweetwater, and I pulled the trigger. Looking forward to that clip, though, T.

Is your 1x12 closed back or open? Do you think the Creambacks would work in an open back cab?

I wonder which one I would like better? The Creamback from Celestion, or the Invader from WGS. Both are trying to do the same thing...a high powered greenback.

Norrin: I'm running it open at the moment, just 'cause I haven't got around to putting on the back panel. Will try it closed at some point.
John: Man, good question. I went with the Celestion just 'cause I've been generally very happy with their stuff, and was hoping to get it right the first time so I could quit swapping speakers for awhile. The WGS stuff is starting to get some positive attention, though, and the prices are excellent. Two thumbs up from T-Rock, too, so there's that!

$159 - just ordered one. Ha! I'm in sad shape :-) From whom...... Shipped today from Sweetwater. It's going in my 1x12 Z conv cab. I'll compare it to the weber legacy that's in there now. I was thinking the weber was a little mid focused. But I've been using it with the Route 66, so there you go. My 70s Princeton went out on me during recording/rehearsal so my plan is to revisit the Remedy/Creamback. I've struggled with the remedy but it has been encouraging to read all the posts from Z-Talk. I REALLY appreciate y'all's encouragement because I came SOOOO close to selling it. Funny the other night something seamed missing when we were recording a song. Then I remembered that I originally recorded the song using the Remedy :-). I take that as a sign!

Mine shipped from Sweetwater today as well. Tracking shows possible Friday delivery. I plan on trying this in a open back 1/12 cab with my Remedy. I had a couple of Webers and felt the same way about the mids so hopefully this creamback will be a little better.

Hmmmm. I'm gamblin' on these two Sweetwater purchases - will the price stay on sale if I read any more glowing reviews after delivery? Seems like a great price for speaker that delivers the goods for a Remedy ( and a Z28 )

More time with Tele>Rem>Creamback this a.m., mostly at low-ish volume throug a Jetter Red2. Still really digging the tones I'm getting out of this rig--just outstanding. Creamback a bit more broken in--highs a skosh less crispy, maybe.

I am curious to hear how the Creamback compares to the Weber Legacy Series. The 65 watt Legacy should be nearly identical specs to the Celestion.

I have some new recording hardware to setup this weekend. So I may record the weber legacy in the 1x12 before swapping out for creamback. A/B the two. It will be interesting. Probably finish up late Sunday (new James Bond film Saturday). So any suggestions on keeping a consistent recording environments speak up now or forever hold your peace!

I am curious to hear how the Creamback compares to the Weber Legacy Series. The 65 watt Legacy should be nearly identical specs to the Celestion. Got my Creamback today and put it in my 1/12 cab with my remedy played both my strats and my les paul. I had the 65 watt legacys although they were in a Z-Best so I am not sure if that had anything to do with the midrange issue I had with them but, all I can say is the creamback to me sounds better balanced to my ears. The creamback has a nice warm woody tone too it. Nice crunch cleans up really well when you roll back. I even got some good spank tones on the in between setting with my fenders. The Les Paul sounded wonderful through the creamback. It kind of reminds me of the blue but with better bass and clearer tones when rolling back your volume and tone nobs on your axe. I side by side compared it to my Z-Best with the two greenbacks and it sounded very close maybe a tad bit looser because its open back but it def has that classic rock tone and warmth.

WOW!!! The Remedy! I finally got it! 2o'clock / 9 o'clock Airbrake city. just like y'all said! My god!!! Ok so I's gonna A/B the weber 40oz legacy & the creamback. It's coming but I can say the Rem sounds just fine with the weber now that I'm getting tones I want. I'll swap for the Creamback ASAP but I'm laying some tracks down & I'm at a point where I just don't want to put the guitar down. FINALLY I FIGURED THE REMEDY OUT. I was simply fighting against all the Remedy has to offer. I'm a dope.

So Nigel--you're using the Weber now? Cool that you're getting great tones. I'd be reluctant to swap, man.

So I swapped the speakers. FUN but I'm a little toasted from juggling family & a bunch of stuff. Got a short A/B comparison on soundcloud. IMO the Weber is good, a lot more mid-focused. The Creamback was way diff. More complex character, kind of reminds me of the gold. Sooner breakup, Bigger bottom and sparkly highs. I LIKE it!!! Need to break in a little i think. demos are quick and dirty and very dry so as to not hide anything in the mix. Supper sloppy but hope these are useful to someone. Y'all give so much to me.
