C'mon already! I'm dying to know... Would it hurt to just give up a date for the big reveal? Doc? Guys I'm not trying to be a tease, but it does take some time to get the product ready and information out to support it. I will be sending out a mass E mail tomorrow to all my dealers with info about the DB 4, so they will be armed to answer questions.
Friday March 25 the web site page will go live with the excellent Brad Paisley video. Friday dealers will be able take orders on the DB 4. We are building chassis as I type and hope to have the amps ready to ship in short order.
How's that !
Z
I'm smiling ear to ear ... Wow! What an amp! What colours will be available? Cheers!

Yep, that 212 Bluesbreaker format looks and sounds great. It's not a format I'd buy but it is majestic.

Love the sound of this one! Doc, on a side note, can I sub a 5879 for an EF 86 in my M12…?

Can't wait to hear how much it can clean up and how much gain is on tap! It sounds like it can get pretty screamin'. Similar to Z Wreck gain possibly?

Hey Doc! So the rotary 4 position “tone” dial tweaks the front end of the amp while the “cut” tweaks the output tubes.....?

42 pound for the 1x12. Same as the ZLux, would that be the same cab design Doc?

DRZHow will the reliability of the 5879 compare to the ef86?

I've got a Gibson GA40 with them in it and I have the ones I put in it 25 years ago still in it. I play the amp semi regularly. When I put in unused ones to look for deterioration, I don't hear any. They don't go microphonic like EF86s. That's my experience with them. The DB4 is using NOS tubes, so they should act the same. 5879s are available NOS and don't cost an arm and a leg yet. Now if the amp is real popular that could change. They act like a 12AX7 on steroids to me with a hint of EF86. Break up quicker and more than an EF86. At least in the GA40. Looking forward to hearing them with EL84s in the power section rather than 6L6s.

I'm beginning to think Doc could make an amp out of a 40 watt bulb (incandescent). Don't give him any ideas.....it's getting hard to find incandescent bulbs ;-) I'm pretty sure I have some NOS bulbs out in the garage

DC here!
Actually the idea with a rotary switch control for shaping the sound of en amp is not new in it self. Orange used to have that in their amps from the late 1970:ies A friend of min used have one of those Orange amps.
It had a big rotary switch in the middle of the control plate with different painted sine like waveforms to illustrate what would happen with the sound when you turn the knob - this way or that way.
Cheers: Dixiechicken!

Yes, and actually the Selmer Zodiac 30 pre dates Orange, Matchless, and Bad Cat amps that used the selectable tone control. It had a push button select, way cool. The Selmer is the amp I used as an inspiration.

Anyone else notice the "Z 06" markings on Brad's 2x12 combo in the video? Also a very high-power, special edition 'Vette. I love the supercar references, Doc!
