Doc announces DB 4New amps come in the spring it seems I'm eager to hear the details, but also a little wary. Will I have to cast something adrift to get another Z? I do appreciate that DB 4 fits into Doc's "car" names for some of his amps.

But it is a clean sheet design from the minds of Brad and me.
Just as long as it wasn't a "Three sheets" design!

I'm very curious, but if Brad's been touring with it, I'm guessing it's gonna be a loud amp?!
That was the only problem with my Stang Ray, which was actually my problem (not the amps fault)...just too darn loud for my musical "career" on house arrest :-)

I'm starting to think we need to call him the "Diabolical DR. Z"

This will be a deletable option. If you want one like Brad's no half power, as he doesn't want or need the feature. But for so many it will be a very viable addition to a non-Master Volume amp.

no half power, as he doesn't want or need the feature. As if his ridiculous raw talent, handsome looks, gorgeous guitars, and beautiful wife weren't enough to make me hate this guy... it turns out that he also has no use for volume attenuation whatsoever. Grr! Man, sometimes I hate that Biff Parsons..!

Looks like NOS 5879 preamps tubes. I wonder if the amp is 4 x EL-84?

If it had the rotatry switch tone control then yes that was the DB 4. Z Doc, is there only the rotary switch for the tone control, or is there another control? I can't go into details but this tone control is a technique that I haven't seen in a production amp. It's a great idea and my hat's off to you for pulling it off. I think no one else has tried it because...well, because no one else is DR.Z. My bet is that it won't be long before the copy cats come out with a "revolutionary tone control". I hope that you can patent the design, (at least from the implementation side). Great job, sir!
