Changed things up a bit. Timmy, mild OD. POT a little more hair, TS808 set as a boost and still using the OCD version 1.2 for gritty.

I'm using a JHS Andy Timmons pedal. The boost mode for some light breakup and the od mode for leads.

Crowther Hot cake.
Vox guys know about this one...its one of the few OD pedals that sound natural w/a vox. Sounds great w/my Maz Jr too. Sounds terrible into a Fender.
Klon clones (in my case EHX Soul food) sound good too. But Hot Cake is like an extension of the amp.
I dont like Tube screamer types into the Maz. For me a Klon-type for a boost, Hot Cake for OD, and a fuzz of your choice is really all I need.

Just got my Maz18 Mkii last week and i threw a bunch of overdrive pedals in front of it. The ones that ultimately made it on the board are the Hotcake, tumnus, and pinnacle.
Of the three, the hotcake is the most natural sounding one...until you start to goose the gain level. However, used as a boost, it just gives me more of what i feel like is the natural voice of the amp.
The tumnus is on primary there to fatten up single coil sounds...and add some mids. And the pinnacle is when i want that high gain sound.

KOT, Keeley Fuzz Head, Plimsoul, EP Boost - all great in their own way Agreed! I’ve been using a Greer lightspeed set to unity with a touch of gain after a keeley super phat set for medium gain. Great combo if I do say so…. Rats are good too! Lol

I'm using the same pedal I've used for 25 or so years on all of my amps, the Crowther Audio Hotcake. I've had others and still run them on my board, but the Hotcake has been the only one that has consistently remained on my board.

I bought a Greer Lightspeed recently and I've been really digging the way it interacts with the Maz. It also eats up the J Rockett Audio Archer (silver). I also have a Klon KTR and Analogman KOT that I use...they all sound great through the Maz...different flavours for sure.
Previous I've also had good luck with the Xotic BB Preamp.
I've found that BB and Klon style pedals really match well with the Maz, while its harder to find TS style pedals that sounds as good. Probably because the Maz has more pronounced mids already, so that mid boost from the TS is a little too much. Thats my experience at least!

I don't use any. Volume on full, T at noon, M at full, B at noon, Master on 10 o'clock, Cut at 10 o'clock, EQ boost on, Hi & Low input at discretion. Using a Boss FS7 as the pedal for EQ Boost and input changer. Using Custom Shop Strats. An EC and a '59 Reissue. I’ve tried this setup this afternoon and it’s AWESOME. No pedals needed. Thank you for sharing, Brian.
