Which overdrive pedals are you using with your Maz 18? Low Gain, High Gain, Rhythm Or Lead, or all of the above.

I'm really liking the Blackbird SR-71, followed closely by my Barber Gain Changer. Both of those units are capable of low to high gain, and they stack really well. I've got the GC feeding the Blackbird, which has two channels that have individual 3 band eq. So it's a very versatile setup.

I'm using a Keeley Blacktop fuzz and a KOT. Between the two, it pretty much covers the range I use.

Over the past month I've been setting the amp to get crunching good on its own. With an EP boost set around 9-10 in front of the amp. Use the guitar vol to clean up & to push it more I've been experimenting between the Timmy, DLS, RCv2. There's been a few times during solos at rehearsal I thought "Hey that a nice sound. Which pedal is on?" Look down only to find none of them on. Go figya.

It's been a few years since I had my Maz Jr but I loved the Crusak Screamer fuzz I had with that amp. Don't hear much about that pedal anymore but I thought it was great.

Hard to beat the Fulltone OCD, I always end up going back to it. The new Friedman BE-OD is great for heavier gain. As wisely stated above, the amps natural overdrive is always my first choice if i am able to really turn it up.

The amps od is the best od imho +1 on just turning it up and letting the amp breathe. l have recently acquired a POT but haven't bonded with it yet nor am particularly impressed with it. Bought it to to give me some low volume drive with my old Silverface vibrolux after reading it played nice with clean fender amps. if l want low volume practise drive my go to is my way huge green rhino very nice with Les Paul's.

I have the Drive up quite high on my KoT (on the red/OD side). Seems to work nicely for providing a "compressing amp" feel at low volume. Also works quite well going into a solid-state amp at a rehearsal studio, providing a similar feel. YMMV, of course.

I use three. RC AC and BB along with a SP Comp. Just different flavors of deaRt. The SP is for clean sustain-y type things or soft finger picking stuff. BB is my "Super Bright Rented Backline Fixer". Had to play through an Orange OR something and, let's say I would of cracked fillings without it. With the Maz I set it just as a booster (little gain). Mostly ride the AC for dirt and the RC as a solo Boost. In the Classic Rock cover band (that I just quit thank God) I used a V2 OCD with a EP booster. Match made in heaven for for ZZ Eplinhatpetty tunes up to 80's (think Jon Bon Lynchrattdio).

I have been experimenting with Fulltone OCD, Cmatmods Brownie , BBE Green Screamer, But I have settled on (for the time being) A Zen Drive Red for just a little grit, and a LovePedal Kanji 9 for heavier dirt , and a TC spark booster for clean boost . And usually at least two of those on during a solo.

Wampler Velvet Fuzz is my favorite. It gives my LP richness and then gets really dirty.

Which overdrive pedals are you using with your Maz 18? Low Gain, High Gain, Rhythm Or Lead, or all of the above. I don't use any. Volume on full, T at noon, M at full, B at noon, Master on 10 o'clock, Cut at 10 o'clock, EQ boost on, Hi & Low input at discretion. Using a Boss FS7 as the pedal for EQ Boost and input changer. Using Custom Shop Strats. An EC and a '59 Reissue.

TC Electronic Spark Booster with the Mid/Fat switch.
Modded Maxon 808 tube screamer. One of the early models.
I find that a good boost is all you really need to send the Maz 18 into grit. The amp alone will break up nicely without pedals.
I'm also really enjoying the variable boost switch that came with the Maz. Really fattens up the tone.

Z-Drive; green for boost, red for dirt.

REALLY love my Archer Ikon with the Maz. I do use an AC Booster to get a more D-style lead sound (or extra saturated rhythm tone), but you have to be pretty careful with it. I struggle with the way the mid curve plays with the Maz, for whatever reason (especially as the gain increases). But yeah, the Ikon ruuuules.

Emerson paramount set as a clean boost and a bb pre. Still on the hunt for a high gainer as well as the right tube screamer type.

I have a feeling almost everything sounds good but right now I'm suing a skreddy screwdriver deluxe and a skreddy mayo and they both sound glorious

I use a BB Preamp and Strymon Riverside +1 for the Riverside. It has replaced my Empress Multidrive. The Multidrive is a really good, really versatile pedal, especially for my compact pedalboard. But even with all of it's adjustability, while it can replicate a lot of the Riverside's tones, it can't touch the meaty, saturated tones I can get with the Strymon pedal.
