I got a church gig almost a year ago and they have 3 amps set up in the back. 3 cab's are in an ISO closet behind the amp heads sitting in a cool, lighted shelf/rack.. The amp I normally use is a Matchless Spitfire clone. The guy has taken that one home so I was stuck using a Fender SuperSonic through an unknown speaker in a Marshall cab. I figure I'd do my good duty/deed and leave a rig for me and/or anyone to use when I'm not there. Has to be a head and cab. I have a Z 1-12 with a Cream but no Z head at the present. I thought and quickly chose a Ghia. It's simple. Not many knobs to fiddle with. ( ie....i can adjust it back to the way I like it on the fly as the stage is big and about a 50' walk to stage position to the amp rack.)

Thanks guys...
My first Z was a Blonde & Brown Ghia 2-10 combo. ( The only Z I wish I had back! ) I really liked that amp but sold it when I got my first Maz Jr. I got a 1-10 Ghia a few years later, but after several speaker changes, concluded that I'm just not a 1-10 guy. I got the cute & tiny anniversary Ghia when it came out but that one just didn't sound as BIG as it's other brothers.
Looking forward to this little workhorse as that's exactly what it will be.
Shipped today!

And I'm sure it does! Actually, I don't think the 10" Gold had been released yet. So...no....no Gold. I would have love to because the 12" Gold is one of my favorite all time speakers. It was not the quality of sound....it was the LARGENESS of the sound. Mic'd it would have been fine, but I was not playing mic'd gigs at the time. But that's water under the bridge at this point.

Mark, 10" Golds are available, I have one. Yes Todd.....I was saying, the 10" Celestion Gold had not been released back when I had my 1-10 Ghia combo.. But this thread is not about a Ghia through a 10" Gold.....it's about a Ghia through a 12" AlNiCo Cream!!!~ Scheduled delivery:

Unfortunately, the little Ghia didn't work out. It's been sent back for the newer model, yet tried & true Therapy!

What was the issue or concern with the Ghia, Mark? Simply stated, it didn't have a green pilot lite...... THAT'S it!!!! That green jewel has all the legendary mojo!! Nah... I guess I have come to the conclusion that the mighty Z Wreck is the only EL84 amp I have truly bonded with. The Ghia is a great little amp, but it's signature upper mid thing that helps it cut through is not my thing. Going with the smoother, more American Therapy sound. All good! Carry on Ghia lovers!!
