Ok guys, I need a versatile delay. My AD-80 is great but to tweak on the fly is a pain and doesn't get me where I need to be. I've had the Line 6 and it is cool with all the presets but too big for what I need. I've been eye balling the T-Rex, but that's a lot of $$ for what I need. My basic requirement is that it can't be much bigger than the T-Rex, maybe have a tap tempo. Any thoughts?

Don't know if you are searching for some cheap one. If you are considering something more I've been changing my mind through the years about many stomp boxes (and I'm still in confusion....!), but T-REX Replica to me is a must have, for its transparency, tap tempo and quality of tone. It is my most used effect and it seems to have a special feeling to R66...

+1 for the T Rex Replica, I leave it on all the time now. It sounds that good.

I love my AD-900 but it doesn't have a tap tempo like you're looking for. How about the DLS Echo Tap - I've heard it's pretty cool.

The Boss DD-20 might just be what you're looking for. Mine sounds great. It has four presets and tap tempo. All kinds of options for delay and modulation. Plus, it has a looper. I got mine used in excellent condition for $120.

Have you tried the Line6 Echo Park pedal ? Tap tempo and has an analog setting complete w/ tape "warble"... an interesting little box.

I have the Verbzilla, I'm not convinced of the Tonecore reliability.

My line 6 echo Park crapped out..........developed a hiss. IMO they are cheep sounding and unreliable. It's too bad you need the tap tempo feature, because, the keeley modded dd3 sounds wonderful.

That T-Rex unit has grabbed my attention..... going to check into it a bit more.
Yeah, I must admit, I was dissapointed with almost all the Tonecore pedals...and they're HEAVY... was that bulk really necessary..... false sense of build quality maybe ?

My ToneCore crapped out on me too after a year and a half.
Had the T-Rex for months now. Gig with it all the time using the PP2. No problems whatsoever. My ears can't detect any difference between running it 9V or 12V either. Plus it sounds amazing. Adds a nice sparkle to your tone. My buddy uses one with his Route 66. Heard him play live from the crowd and his delay just had a quality that the other guitarist couldn't match.

Will it run on the PP2? My research says not. In my Pedal pad I can run it with its adapter, but in acoustic gig I place it in the "acoustic pedalboard" running with its 9 v jacks and it sounds ok. A little better at 12v, a little more transparent. To me tap tempo is a very important feature. "..ll the Tonecore pedals...and they're HEAVY... was that bulk really necessary..... false sense of build quality maybe ?" yes...

Good Morning, Dittos on the TC/T-Rex. I was using the Echo Park but it's been demoted to the Fingerstyle/Acoustic Rig. You really can leave it on, it sounds that good. I'm running mine with a One Spot 12 volt with a polarity reverse plug. It's pricey but good.

FYI I ordered the T-Rex Replica...it's on back order till the 28th. I really hate spending that kind of $ on a pedal that isn't a critical part of my sound but if it will be the "end-all/be-all" in terms of delays it's $ well spent.

Just got my TC Vintage Delay today. A buddy with a T-Rex came over. They are dead-on identical in feature and tone. I went with the TC, cuz they are just down the freeway from me in case I need repair etc. The T-Rex looks cooler though

Has anyone compared the T-Rex to an AD900? I have the AD900, which is great, but i could really use the tap tempo feature ... so I'm thinking of selling the AD900 to fund the T-Rex. Thoughts/input appreciated! thx

An FYI for those who use a PP2 and T-Rex Replica, or considering it....
A message about powering your T-Rex pedals!
Steen Meldgaard, the founder and President of T-Rex pedals, wanted to share this message with you regarding powering your T-Rex treasures:
"Many players and music stores have asked us about powering the T-Rex pedals. Here are some basic rules:
1. All T-Rex pedals run on 12 volt DC! Also the Replica. Even the pedals with a 9 volt battery container and the sign "9 volt DC". When you look in their manuals it actually says 9 - 12 volt DC.
2. The T-Rex Replica runs on 12 volt DC or 12 volt AC. It doesn't matter as it has a converter inside. It only needs 110 mA.
3. All T-Rex pedals with a battery container requires very little mA, like 20 - 30 mA.
4. T-Rex Squeezer runs on 12 volt DC and needs 260 mA
5. T-Rex Room-Mate runs on 12 volt DC and needs 330 mA
6. Connecting more pedals to the FuelTank power supply. Always use the link cable (daisy chain) before using the singular extension cables. This way you can avoid some noise, if you live in an area with noise problems.
Best Regards,
Steen"

I think T-rex and TC Electronic are from the same company. T-rex just has prettier colors and fancy names like Replica, Moller, and Mudhoney. If you go to their websites you can pretty easily match up the pedals between the two companies.

Will do, I'm keeping an eye on the UPS man...why do they drive so slow? I don't think I've been this excited over a pedal in a long time. OD's are cool but always a variation on a theme, a cool delay you can get lost and inspired at the same time.
