I just got my first Dr.Z amp (2x12 Mazerati) and want to add a good delay pedal to my sound. The only other pedal I use is a SexDrive pedal by Durham Electronics.
I'd love to try an AquaPuss delay pedal (I know it's Brad Paisley'd fave) but will not part with $800 in order to get one!

Deluxe Memory Man is my favorite. However, I have a couple of others that will be fantastic as well very soon. One is an AMDek DMK-100 Analog Delay (made by a company that was part of Roland/Boss, the DMK-200 that came after it is the same as the DM-2 from Boss except for the housing). The DMK-100 should arrive tomorrow. Also, a 1960 Klemt Echolette 5 tape echo/tube preamp is being restored by my tech right now... it should be awesome when he's done! These pictures are not of my actual pedals, but they look the same!

Here are a few of my favorites:
Home Bre Electronics Mimic Keeley Modded Ibanez AD-9 and the Fulltone TTE (if you want a delay that costs more than your amp)

Big daddy (that just feels wrong saying ) I have an original 80's Boss DD-2 that I love dearly and would never part with. A lot of reviewers say this pedal behaves very close to an analog delay, but I'm not sure I agree with the assessment or not. However I am looking for the right Analog delay to add to my ever growing collection of pedals. I guess the question is do you prefer Analog to Digital. [glow=limegreen,2,300]-J-[/glow]

Maxon AD900... I can't get enough of this pedal.. I'll NEVER get rid of it. It's like buttah... So easy to dial in too. It can go from a nice subtle ZZ Top delay to Gilmourish tones with ease. I like it better than my buddy's TTE..
- my 666th post.. creepy...

Hi, BDB, if you search, there are others threads on this argument.
However, mine is a T-rex Replica, nice sounding DL with Tap Tempo feature. See it also on Pedalboard Pics thread...

It kinda depends on how much you want to spend!
I've used a Line 6 DL4 for years, but recently bought a Boss DD-20 Giga Delay and love it. Besides some of the programming features, it sounds MUCH better than the Line 6.
That being said, I would love to have an AD900 as well. I just need the versatility of different settings for shows.

I love my little Ibanez Tone-Lok. Just a cheap, cool sounding little pedal that I run on my big board. With delay I find that I usually run it so subtley that I don't need anything pricey to really do the job. I've even run the mini Dano PBJs and liked them. But the Ibanez is a really cool pedal at a really cool price.

The delay side of the H20 isn't a bad sounding delay. It does'nt have a ton of features but it's very usable for the money.

Love my Keeley modded Boss DD-3. Has a three way switch for stock/analog/tape. Robert's mods really make the knobs interact better as well.

Another vote for the Boss DD-20. It has a ton of options. In addition to multiple good delays, it also has a modulation mode and a looper. The looper's great for playing a solo over a rhythm part (cool for practice or live application). It has 4 storage banks as well. It also has a tap tempo, which can be operated by a separate switch. No matter what you go with, I recommend definately something with a tap tempo. Can't imagine ever using a delay again without a tap tempo. For me it makes a world of difference.

I love my T-Rex Replica, it does all I need and some; comes down to personal preference and sometimes how comfortable your couch is if you have to sleep on it a few nights.

I would like to try the Keeley modded Boss DD-3. My 2 favs are Maxon Ad80 and TTE, but the TTE is in a class of it's own and not really a pedal.

i'm not really a "boutique delay" kinda guy, so i've been extrememly happy with my cap-job'ed MD3. the Keely DD3 with a 3 mode switch sounds interesting, though. oh, i forgot. my all time favorite delay is my Yamaha D1500. it's a 1 rack unit but it sounds pretty "sweet".

I have Maxon 999 for that ambient 3D enhancement as well as Jacques Prisoner for some crazy modulation or great tape delay like simulation. They add a different flavor to the sound and I love them both.

Diamond Pedals Memory Lane, sounds great, tap tempo, modulation, all analog. It's a bit big and $$$ but well worth it.

Another recommendation for the T Rex Replica, a versatile and great sounding delay.

Well, I just have a stock DL4. At the time, it sounded good because my amp was so crappy I couldn't hear a difference.
Now that I have a better amp, its weakness is exposed. I just live with it because I'm cheap and I don't use the delay that much-- and it really isn't that bad. Not bad enough to make me want to spend money on another delay.
If I did, the DD20 would be at the top of the list, though.

T-Rex. In comparison, it blew the doors off of my Line6 Echo Park.

DD20. Wish it was true bypass, but I love the ability to store five presets and its flexibility. Analog models are quite decent.

Vintage Ibanez AD-80 Nice analog delay at 18 volts.
I think I may need a TTE one day soon though.

SIB Echodrive. True-bypass, tube-driven. Unfortunately, AC powered. But what TONE! SIB recently went back into business, and the Echodrive is one of the units they started making again. Keep an eye out on the horizon for new stuff from SIB. www.sibfx.com/
