I know I recently posted but I decided to go in a different direction with the gain stages. I removed the treble booster which I was using for a solo boost. Instead, I decided to stick my EQ pedal after all my gain stages and use that as a solo boost. Home trials have sounded pretty good so far but I'll get a better idea at band practice.

I keep telling myself I’m done. Latest revision. Added a diamond vibrato and bigsky The struggle is real. Both my boards are different now. Even after the last post of my boards. I'm holding off on posting anything new for a bit though. I'm planning on cleaning up the wiring on my small board, moving to dual lock and updating to Todd's (pcns on the board) patch cables. Then my main board I'm contemplating updating the actual board itself, and will do similar updates to it. Should have the small board overhauled here in the next month or so though. The big board it might be mid-year or so. That being said, I guess tone-experimentation is all part of the fun of playing guitar though! Ha!

Been a while. Lots of change: Ripply fall? No. Delay Llama Extreme. Amazing pedal - I love it! That 1st position where the Rat is gets swapped constantly between different OD/Dist/Fuzz pedals as the mood hits. Waiting for something to permanently claim that spot. This is basically my rig these days:

Quarantine pedalboard shake-up #549... I'm focusing more on pushing the amp instead of overdriving the signal before it gets to the input, for the most part, so all of the drive pedals went back in the "box" for now: * Bad Bob - 30db boost on tap * Greer Organic Lightspeed - A fantastic "light" OD that adds bit of compression. The Bad Bob into the Lightspeed does amazing things if you need to goose the front end of the amp * Fulltone SupaTrem - On all the time as a boost by setting the Mix to min and engage the trem with the Hard/Soft switch. The boost level is adjustable with the Vol control on top...instead of having to open the case * Chase Secret Pre - It doesn't add any drive but it does add a sparkle/3-dimension aspect...hard to explain but it sounds really good. The switch adjusts between Dark/Mid/Bright to better suit the amp I'm using * Xotic SP Comp - There for those tunes calling for more of a straight-ahead country tone

Is that a Lehle volume pedal? If so how do you like it? Was just looking at the new model they released … Lehle is the “Dr. Z of pedals” IMO.

It's the powered Lehle. I've been through several volume pedals and the Lehle finally "scratched the itch"...it works flawlessly. I put it at the end of the chain so I have to leave room above it to run the amp lead but it seems to be the perfect spot for the clock so no contention there.
Buy one and save yourself any more volume pedal headaches!

I added my Beano Boost before the Lightspeed and put the Bad Bob after. We have a 3-night stretch coming up in Casper, WY next week...I'm anxious to give it a go. I may dig the Z Wreck out of storage since the Route is at the "Doc's!"

Well here's the way my small board is, currently. Not a lot of changes to the pedals. The only pedal I've swapped out is the Stomp Under Foot Hellephant. I pulled it and replaced it with the Stomp Under Foot '74 Ram's Head V3. Then I also added a TrueTone Buffer underneath the board. The big changes are cleaning up the wiring and I pulled up the loop velcro and went with 3M Dual Lock. It was a shame that the beautiful wood top of the board was being covered by the ugly loop velcro. I also tied down some of the wiring with some cable ties and then I swapped out the George L's for the Pro Cables N Sound Patriot patch cables that Todd makes. The biggest thing is that it looks a lot cleaner. 20210329_203322~2 by Johnathan, on Flickr

I may dig the Z Wreck out of storage since the Route is at the "Doc's!" The Beano before the Lightspeed was a non-starter...I didn't even make it through sound-check. So....I may experiment with replacing the Lightspeed (which never seems to leave!) with a Klon KTR....who knows? Isn't that the fun part of all this? I will say the Germino performed admirably Friday night as did the Z Wreck on Saturday (after having midget wrestling open the show). I really liked the Wreck through the Germino 2x12 with Greenbacks...good stuff.

I actually just purchased another small board from Kentucky Hot Brown Pedal boards for just that. A board that I'm going to use for experimentation. I pick that board up this week. But yeah, I have enough pedals that I could probably put together at least 4 or 5 pedal boards, of some capacity. Ha!

I love the way all of my amps sound and feel so I am not a big pedal fan. However, with my two current gigs, I realize that I may need some effects from time to time. I used to gig a powered Kemper with a conventional guitar cab and their foot controller. It had all of the effects I could ever use and sounded good in small environments and recording but the amp simulations fell apart when pushed on larger, loud stages. So my current approach was to find a simple, do-everything unit that I could use with my tube amps. I just finished my initial programs for this Helix HX FX and it does everything I need and more without masking my amps' tone. I use an analog Lehle volume control because I like the sweep and feel of it better than the Mission pedal/simulation. The other Mission pedal here is a Kemper version that I modded to work with both Kemper and Helix. I use it as a wah when needed since the wah simulation is pretty good. I also use a Shure GLX wireless system and the 4-button unit on the bottom is the channel switcher for my Carol-Ann. I am happy with this setup. It gives me digital flexibility with my tube amps and every effect I need or could conceivably need. it's quiet, simple and sounds good. That's all I need.

It's my second favorite chorus type pedal that I have. My favorite is the HBE THC. However I do like the flexibility of the somersault. I have it set at an 80's chorus type sound but I do like the havoc switch that ramps it up to almost a Soundgarden Black Hole Sun type sound. I don't care for the square wave setting. Just a little too glitchy for me but overall I do like the pedal. Hope that helps.

My drive section makes me extremely happy. Some of the best overdrive and fuzz pedals I’ve played on right now. I have an analogman bc183 sunface on order right now to see if it can take the twin benders place.
