I still talk to my ex-wife ( we're great friends, ....go figure ) she asks me if it's ended ,... YET. ...........uhhhh, ....NO! We're never cured, we just learn to control it! Oh yeah, earcandy rules too, he does alot of those wire mesh round speaker grills, that i dont care for, but he'll do anything, and the R&D is amazing!

Got my cab this morning and my soundman/badcat player turns up at my door on cue. ;D We pulled it out of the box and put it through its paces with the Route 66. Oh Yeah! I couldn't believe the volume difference compared to my Z best. I will have no problem getting the amp up where I want it now. Made me realize how loud and big sounding the Z best is! What a beast of a cab it is. I'll still be using it whenever possible which is most of the time, but it's nice to know I've got the quieter option now The new cab has heaps of bottom end, a little less presence and upper frequency grind but for a 1-12 it sounds amazing and at a WAY small club friendlier volume which was my whole reason to get it, so I'm really happy. The speaker sounds pretty much exactly how I expected (or hoped) Of course gig land will really give me a better idea of where it's at but so far I'm really really stoked. I'm hanging to hear the Z28 with it too. It's a great looking cab too. Peachphan green! ;D

Dadgum, I go away for a while and find that the thread I started took on a life of it's own. For what it's worth, I put an old Celestion GK-85 in there (that I lifted out of my old SD Convertible) and it's working very well. This is a very beamy speaker, but I threw a Weber Beam Blocker in there and it's doing the trick pretty well. For you guys that don't know this speaker, it was also used by Pittman in some of the GT combos. It has a nice, chimey upper end, making it good for clean stuff, and it'll do the Celestion crunch when hit. Sort of like Celestion's answer to a Jensen. I'm pretty happy. Of course, I wish there were a way to line up all the new Emmience Red Coats and Patriots and sample my way through all of them, but that's impossible. As I always say, speakers are the final frontier, and it's hard to get good information on them. Good to read all the posts.

I've got one of doc's open back 1x12's form back when weber was building speakers to doc's specs, believe doc told me it is a cross between a blue and silver, huge alnico mag. 66 sounds sweet through it. Have played 66 through G12h30's weber blue and silver, just this year got a Barber Energy cab with Texas Heats and to me every amp I have sounds better through them. Love that cab and the Heat's.
