Does anyone know of some guitar makers out there who make Les Paul Jr. style guitars (besides Gibson and Epiphone of course)? Thanks.

Collings 290 or is that a Les Paul Special? Maybe they do a single pup version?

LSL has the topanga, which is a double cut special. But I'm sure they'd make a single pickup version.

Paul Reed Smith does. I have a 25th Anniv. Mira 245 Soapbar and it's fantastic... Edit: Oh, wait... you said "Junior," not "Special." In that case, look for a PRS SE One Korina. I don't think they'd made/sold anymore, but they were very well-made and cost-effective.

Anderson Bulldog Special if you have $3500 to spare. I haven't played one but I imagine it would be amazing.

These are some wonderful guitars - thanks everyone! I did a search yesterday and found that there really aren't that many guitar makers who are doing guitars in this style. Most want to pack two pups in there which I can understand. After all, why pay something like 3K for only one pup?! Then again, maybe it is just this phase of my playing that I'm in, but I find myself drawn to simplicity: one pup, two knobs, that's it. I'm constantly trying to find ways to spend less time fiddling with knobs on pedals, amps, and guitars, and more time working my tone with my hands.
Anyway, of all of these, I think that Collings looks incredible. Love the contours on the back as well. I'm kicking around the idea of building one with no pickguard and a natural wood stain finish - seems like nobody is doing that and that's what I want!

If you want to build one check out Precision Guitar Kits.

I sure wish I had "custom guitar money" but I'm dealing with much more limited funds. I think I'll probably end up building one at some point but maybe tweaking the design a bit by using different wood combos. This all gives me good ideas and makes me realize that I'm always interested in the guitars that very few people are making these days.

There is a thread from one of the forum members, hope he forgives me for forgetting who but it's my age, with a step by step build from a kit I recall of what turned out to be very lovely looking double cut junior. If you do a search it will probably pop up and is definitely worth a read through even if you don't go the self build route. ztalk.proboards.com/thread/57114/guitar-build-set-neck-lpfound it sorry nicholas

Its the one in my Avatar. Very affordable. I covered the build pretty completely, so if you go that route there is a lot of info on assembly and finishing. Good luck either way you go!
