Is anyone else enjoying True Detective? This is the first show since the Sopranos that I tune in live to watch. In the age of the DVR, that is high praise.

Unreal. We have been watching each episode twice to catch everything. If you can, go back and re watch episode 1. Lots of clues in there.

My wife and I are loving that show...I think it's one of the best shows on TV right now. I agree. I wind up watching each episode twice to be sure to catch all the nuances. Sad that it only has two episodes left to run. Whoops, Eric already said exactly that. Well, I do it to.

Not liking it myself. Different strokes. Last episode contributed nothing to the story.

My wife and I are loving that show...I think it's one of the best shows on TV right now. I have been trying to get my wife to watch. Her favorite show of all time is The Wire. She loves dark dramas. Alas, she won't give True Detective a second thought...

It a heavy duty series...
Yeah... once through each episode is not enough. I like seeing them again and again, because there is so much going on each hour! Character development is fast yet on-going.
Extremely well done!

Best thing I have seen on HBO since Saprano's. If the season finale is anything like the ending of last weeks show...........gonna be fantastic. It will be interesting to see what they do with the story line for next season.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the story line for next season. While at the risk of being completely mistaken, I don't think there will be a next season. If there is, it will be with different actors and a completely different storyline. I think this was designed to be one of those mini-series that sort of takes the place of one long movie, thus allowing a more in depth development of the plot, characters, etc. If I'm wrong somebody please correct me and lift my depression over next Sunday being the final episode. I too think it's the best thing since The Sopranos.

Next season, different key crime, different cast, different location.

Next season, different key crime, different cast, different location. Thanks Eric, that's what I thought. Hopefully they will retain the same quality of writing and production so the end result is different but equally as good. I don't know if it's the camera work, venue selection or just what but I often feel like I'm actually there in some of the scenes. The bar scene where Rust was working in this past Sunday's episode is a good example.

The creator wrote the entire first season script himself. I think he's planning on doing that again for the 2nd season. Very rare for TV.

I can't wait to see who they cast for next season. I imagine with the success of this season they will be able to pull some A list talent. Christian Bale seems to like darker, gritty roles...

Why do I have the feeling that they are not going to conclude the series and cliff hang us and finish next season. Seems to be too many twists to resolve in one hour episode .

^^That IS the norm with TV series, so one does kind of expect that. They do seem to cover a lot of ground per episode though. That one long scene where Matthews character was trying to escape the drug dealers and bikers while dragging the other dude along...holy cow!

This could turn out to be like American Horror Story where they have a new story every season, but keep some of the same actors. Only bad thing about that is you get used to them being a certain character then it can be hard to switch in your mind when they take on a new role. Any which way it goes, True Detective Season 1 was outstanding.

DR.Z That's exactly what I was thinkin!! How are they gonna tie all the loose ends in an hour?! It's now a huge working brand... It's an understatement to say that they sure have an extremely tough act to follow for next season. Best of luck to them. They found a fan in me!

Yea its a great show and Matt and Woody make a hard act to follow. At first it was kind of slow for me especially after just watching Breaking Bad. I had to go back and watch a few things over to try and find some clues. The season final is going to be interesting. They have alot of ground too cover.

The crucifixion meme has been in place for Rust since the first episode and reoccurred during every tense encounter he's had all season. He's dyin' for sure, because once this case is resolved his main life obsession is gone.

It has the essence of Twin Peaks without the Lynch dark humor, which Pizzolatto is a fan of. I wonder if Matt & Woody will still be executive producers in season 2 and still have a lot of creative involvement, as they will not be returning cast (or so they say) Is Spaghetti Face the crucial character to return in the next season based around he's serial killings and using he's wooden sculptures as keystones?
