I have a vintage Ibanez AD-80 which I love the sound of even though I don't use it much. My other pics would be The Pete Cornish Tape Echo Simulator, Fulltone Tube Tape Echo or the Blue analog SIB. I'm not really into the digital stuff. Check out Bluesteel's thread in "guitars and things".

If you like a simple quick delay, the Rocktron Short Timer is excellent, especially for a little slap back. Plus, the thing costs like 60 bucks. You can't beat it for the money. It's got three knobs, no need to mess with all of the different "modes." Just set it and play.

I wish the Maxon and the Ibanez would add a few 100 ms to their delays . the slap sounds killer on those although

I actually like the Line 6 DM4. Its liek three delays in one and the models are close enough for the limited amount I use delays. Mostly I use the mem Man, analog delay, and tape echo models. Im sure not as ideal as having these three actual delays, but the true bypass is nice for when its off and access to about a dozen delays for about $249 is nice. Solves the problem of not enough delay time on the vintage pedals too.

The Echo Park is good for the price. I use one with my rig and my gig board has a Keeley modded DL4 and it's pretty nice too.

I've got an Ibanez AD-9 that I can't do without. Mine's an original but you can get a re-issue fairly reasonably.

halsey, nice board! +1 on that EHX 16S - you must be the other guy that has one. Oh yeah, the Aqua Puss is ok too (ha ha ha) Are you powering the EHX 16S delay from the PP2+? I find it's a great utility pedal, I'm glad I have one.

I forgot to mention to flem....the DLS Echotap is a nice unit, too. I'm using one in a variety of settings. Do you have any leanings toward digital or analog, how much delay time, specific features, etc?

I find it's a great utility pedal, I'm glad I have one. I use the EHX 16 sec. mainly to practice with- Just recording loops and playing over it. I don't play in a band or anything, so I just record some chord progressions, and then try to play along with every 7th chord variation I can think of- just voice leading and building and stuff. I have the EHX 16 sec. plugged into the PP2 with the wall wart thing. I guess I need to find a reverse polarity plug to make it work straight off the PP2, but I am not sure...

Hey, same here! I use my EHX 16S pretty much the same way - I'll stumble into a vamp that I'll just record in and either noodle over for far too long, or I'll take a slightly more diligent approach and record something specific to practice on (progressions, ii-V-I stuff, whatever). I sometimes drive an Alesis SR-16 with it too, which is pretty cool. My PP2 (not PP2+) came with a red-tipped "reverse" chord (would that work?), but I'm using the wart as the 16S is currently desk-mounted.
I've got every noble intention to do more with it, eventually. One hurdle I'm struggling with is that I tend to rely on my amps for their own tone, and I don't [yet] have an effective way of delaying *that*.

I love me some Way Huge Aqua Puss. Cost more than my amp though. Ugh. Man, I had a chance to buy an Aqua Puss for $300 when I was a sophomore in college, and I passed because I needed to buy my books instead. I'd been kicking myself ever since (I don't have the books anymore, but I'd still have the pedal ), until I had the opportunity to try an EchoCzar a few months back.

What exactly does the Keeley mod do to the DM4?

The SIB Mr Echo sounds nice but it'll distort if you drive it hard. I hate to admit it but the Digitech set to tape simulation sounds real good to me. I also had a Danelectro that sounded good. I've never felt the need to fix up my old Echoplex because these new pedals sound great and they're sure less hassle, but not as fun!

I bought an Ibanez AD-9. 20 - 300 msec. very warm compared to the Boss dd6 that I traded in for it.
I never used more that 300 - 400 msec of delay anyway.

If your ears don't follow the conventional wisdom, follow your ears. How dull it would be if everyone sounded the same. ;D

Boss DD2 I've had for years, good for adding a short delay without changing the tone too much. But the best sounding one I've got is the deluxe memory man, the basic job without the tap tempo and the other stuff on it. Only downside is the size and the 18v power supply. But it sounds great on shortish delays which is all I use.

I use 3 on three different boards, albeit sparingly, with good results:

I have a deep fondness and love for the old Boss DM-2. That said, the really good ones (proper chips and whatnot) are about $400. I have almost sold mine though after getting the Black Fountain from Old Blood Noise Endeavors. It's spot on and has a few styles to flip between. Seriously, check it out. I've been an analog delay fanatic.

I have been using my Eventide Timefactor for a few years now. Once I got that I sold all my other delay pedals. This one does everything I need. It has easily accessible and programmable presets, an aux in for a 3-button footswitch control as well as MIDI in for control and/or syncing with a click track. Pricey but better than having multiple delay pedals on a board.

DC here! I have the TC Electronic Flashback Delay: www.tcelectronic.com/flashback-delay/Lots of options inkluding a looper and backwards delay. You can download new sounds with their Toneprint technology into the delay too if you're into fiddling around that way. Easy to use and excellent sound too. Their delays and reverbs are one of the strong points of TC Electronic. Cheers: Dixiechicken!

I too am happy with the TC Flashback. I also use a Boss DD5 on another board. However, I am very curious about the Catalinbread Belle Epoch.
