My two favorites are the Strymon ElCap and at the opposite end of the spectrum, an 1980's Boss DM-3

what's the advantage of having pedals with "computer editing?" There was a pedal called the Yamaha Magicstomp, it was the first I became aware of with this feature. It replaced one of my absolute favorite delays ever, the UD Stomp. I was concerned the Magicstomp would become obsolete after the cable connection wasn't being made anymore (plus it was super-complex), and now I see TC Electronic (among others)offering a wide range of pedals with the computer editing thang. What's wrong with just turning the knobs to get the sound one is looking for? I'm really concerned about my pedal becoming obsolete and unusable. What gives?

I have a Strymon Timeline. I can control it via midi on my OneConrol Croc' Tail Loop... But I prefer to use my MRX Carbon Copy as I love the slap back on it. I'm thinking of selling the timeline!

Well, I don't use MIDI, but that's kinda my point-does having an output to one's computer actually help, or does it make things more complicated and potentially obsolete? I have the carbon copy as well, and I love it. It will always work, even 30 years from now when computer interfaces have changed completely.

What's wrong with just turning the knobs to get the sound one is looking for? With the TC stuff there's a LOT of sounds in there you can't get by turning the knobs. I've built a "tape echo" sound that's very different from the stock models...but works perfect with my gear.

All of our equipment will probably be irrelevant 30 years from now. A changing computer interface will be the least of our worries.

Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay has been on my gigging board for quite a while now...after hundreds (thousands?) of dollars trying every delay pedal made. My two cents.

I wonder how many delay pedals have been introduce in the near 10-year interim between when this thread was started and when it was revived .

+1 the Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay (HW) for me, hearing great things about the EarthQuaker Devices Dispatch Master Delay which also has reverb.

Guitar amps irrelavent in 30 years? Electric guitar irrelavant too? I don't know about that, the old analog stuff is going nowhere but up. It's the computer interface I'm worried about. Gots to say no to computer interface pedals...

Love my Diamond ML2. I had a DOD 585 back in the 80's that somehow disappeared, and has always been my measure for analog delay pedal.

I too am happy with the TC Flashback. I also use a Boss DD5 on another board. However, I am very curious about the Catalinbread Belle Epoch. I have had the Belle Epoch for 8 months and love it.It aint cheap($200),but totally lives up to the hype-I have found it to be as good as it seems in the video demos.Catalinbread has another delay/tape echo pedal, the echorec,i'd love to dive into that one too...I have 10-12 good settings on the Belle(written on a piece of paper hanging on the wall for easy reference) all usable and fun-page bowing, floyd run like hell, early edge,1972 british glam faux rockabilly-it's worth the cash.

MXR Carbon copy. I prefer analog delays to digital, but both are great. I love my Carbon Copy, plus i use the mod setting on it quite often which adds a very subtle warble to the delay. The Boss DD-3 analog man mod is great too. Find a cheap DD-3 and send it off to analog man. you won't regret it. Lots of options.
