With a SRZ-65 on the way, I'm now looking at different cab and speaker options. I would love a matching LE cab to go with the head, but it's apparently not going to happen...so, what is everyone else using or planning to use?
I'm thinking about an Avatar Premier Vintage Cab loaded with Eminence Tonkers.
A Z-Best would be cool, but I've really been wanting to try some Eminence speakers.

My plan is a Z 2x12 open back with 25 watt Greenbacks.

When I start daydreaming about the SRZ-65 I plug it straight into my stock Z-Best or a 4-12 with Celestion Heritage G12M greenbacks (20watts) ;D My Celestion Heritage V35 sounds pretty cool in my 1-12. 2 of those or 4 would sound pretty awesome also.

How is the Z-Best bass response? I don't want mushy bass, but a clear, well defined bass. What speakers come with it? Does the doc do options?

The words "mushy bass" and "Dr Z" will never appear in the same sentence. The Z Best is an awesome, awesome cab, (yes I meant to say it twice) better low end response than alot of quads I've heard. With a Route 66 and Z28 the bottom end is tight, tight, tight. I don't think you'll find a better 2-12 and the G30H/V30 combination with the SRZ-65 would absolutely kick like a mule!

I've already purchased 2 Celestion G12Ms. I have to get started on the cab soon. I love to work with wood and my brother-in-law has a killer woodshop. I'm kinda freaked about Tolexing the cabinet though.
What do you people think about a couple of Weber Beam Blockers installed as well?

If you look at that pic of the THD cab above, that's where I got my first taste of beam blocking, and I'll never go back. It really does the trick. But if you're building your own cab, you can build it in, just like that THD cab above. Of course if you don't like it, you'll have to get out the saw again...

I like the SRZ best with Weber Silver Bell Ceramics. Can you order a Z-Best with Weber's?

I've got the both the Z-Best 2x12 and the Z 2x10, and I use both with my SRZ-65, but I have been using the 2x10 more often lately.
the bass on the Z-Best is huge (and never mushy), but so much so that I feel like I'm stepping into the bassist's frequencies at times, especially when using the neck humbucker on my LP.
and don't underestimate Z's 2x10 bass. it's amazing for a cab of its size. but the warm and wonderful mids are what really sold me on this cab with the SRZ. also, the open back means less beamy-ness and less apparent volume. this allows me to let the power tubes work harder before the levels get out of control.

Well nothing wrong with that. A 65 watt amp can afford to be damped down quite a lot by inefficient speakers. However, I don't think the Z 10's are that inefficient. But not as efficient as the Alnico Blues I have. I got quite a lesson in speaker efficiency when I got that cab - my 30 watt Stingray blowing my 50 watt Flexi right off the stage! I'm very serious about a Z 2x10 for my SRZ - I can set it on top the 2x12 I have for my Stingray and A/B between the two amps. Talk about nirvana!

I'm leaning towards a cab with Eminence Cannibis Rex's based on the reviews of them. Maybe a little different sound than the "typical" speaker selection for this type of amp, but my curiosity is getting the best of me. Wonder if Z will make a "High-65" version with a matching Z-Best with Cannibas Rex Hemp Cone speakers... (no, I'm not endorsing mary jane here!).

I feel Z will offer matching cabs for the LTD SRZ's, just a hunch. . For me, I'd opt for a 2x12 open back, those are most excellent.

I would prefer a matching cab, but the dealer I reserved my SRZ-65 at called Z and was told there would NOT be a matching cab. That's too bad as this LE deserves one!

I couldn't afford a cab with it anyway I'll have to make do with the 2 G12H30s in my 45 combo. I was thinking of getting a 1x12 Z cab with a large power handling speaker (around 50 watts), maybe Weber loaded.

After buying the 6545 and then the Stingray almost on top of it, and needing a cab for the Stingray I'm almost tapped out! I have just enough coming for the SRZ...

You are right on the money here. Hard core Marshall 4x12 folks love it when I hook their amp up to a stock Z-Best cab and are really surprised when I A/B it with the Marshall 4x12.

In fact, he said that he's coming up with a red/black intertwining grille cloth for it. What I haven't heard, is what type of cab it will be or what speakers will be offered in it.

Now, that is one sweet looking amp!!!! Great job on the design Doc! I'm sure it will sound even better than it looks!!!! Doc, we MUST have a matching cab!!! I think Black with a Brushed Silver Panel and a Red Z logo would look SWEET!!! I have that covered as well, look to 2007 as I'm haveing a Red/Black weaved grille done. Z Doc was referring to a matching cabinet to the SRZ LE. I spoke to him by telephone a few weeks ago.

Any speaker options with LE cab for LTD SRZ65 ? I would love to see some different options available as well. Maybe we'll get a sneak peek of the cab soon like we did the amp. I know I can't wait until January!
