Hi Mike, It seems the link is broken. How can I get in on this Maz Jr tone goodness? Yup, the link is out of date. Send me a PM with your email address. I'll send the latest version to you. I probably should set it up on a website and put a link in my signature, like Steve (benttop) did with his amp specs. One of these days ... Link is now available in my signature.

Hi, That link doesn't work for me either but I'd be very interested in how others set their MAZs! I'm new here but I've spent most of the last 24 hours with my new MAZ 18 NR 2x10" Combo. I can't remember the last time I was this much in love with a new piece of gear. My settings may look a bit OCD but with my Swamp Ash PRS with Narrowfield Pickups and the 2x10"s they make for a crystal clear, detailed, slightly crunchy, dynamic sound. My favourite so far after the first 24 hours! I've spent some time reading up on all the different tubes and speakers people have tried in this amp... Now I'm torn! I love the sound but I'm itching to tinker with different V1 and PI tubes...

Yup, something's up with the link. I'll have to track down what my hosting service has done to my page.
Added: It appears to be a server problem. Temporary, I hope.

Ah, the link is back. Thanks for compiling all these settings, doctorice. Will give them a spin this afternoon!
Played my first show with the MAZ last night. Coming from a Line6 DT25 will all kinds of presets saved in a POD HD500, this was a bit of a risk after less than 48 hours of owning the MAZ but I just couldn't bring myself to go back.
Soundman loved the tone but had me turn it down a bit more than I'd like but it sounded awesome even as clean as it was (MV at 8, V at 11 o'clock). Maybe I need to get that Air Brake after all!

My hosting service said someone had changed the IP address. My reply was "I don't know how to do that, so it wasn't me!" Another Mystery of the Internet.... My last gig with a sound man had a similar result: tone was good but not what it could have been with the amp MV up more. Wished I had brought my Brake Lite that night.

Yeah, somehow I thought I wouldn't need one... think again... MV is just too much a part of the sound with this amp!

Yeah, somehow I thought I wouldn't need one... think again... MV is just too much a part of the sound with this amp! Yes, the MV on some Zs is much more a master volume (Remedy, Therapy, e.g.) but on the MAZ, Volume is preamp and Master is power amp control. Gotta get those EL84s going a bit.

I've found the list very helpful thank you, from a newbie Maz18 1x12 combo owner. My first Z and must say its just so dynamic even with a Brake Lite. Do many use the eq bypass? Seems to give a significant volume boost. Thanks in advance for any input.

I don't use it... I find the upper mids and treble to be much too nasal and annoying sounding even just for short solos – I'd much rather plug in a decent boost pedal.

I use the eq bypass sparingly. I usually back guitar volume down.

thanks, it's not my kind of sound either. Much prefer my clean boost to push the amp a little and also my FTT Sov-2.

And, another "THANK YOU" for posting. My Maz Jr is usually set on my Strat tone. I just restrung my Les Paul P90 and thought I'd fire up the old Maz Jr. I clicked on the old tone link and was like "Oh No! My settings are gone! I should have written them down!".
My panic is over and the pdf is downloaded.
Thank you - Mike Z

Hi there, due to pick up my Maz on Thursday and found this thread, but cant seem to get the original link to work. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Can't wait to try it out as I'm a former Carmen Ghia owner coming back to Z after selling on some surplus kit. Thanks Dave

Aaargh, how did I miss that - thanks. Come on Thursday.... I say this often - Don't skip over the blackface setting! (Bass max, mid off, treble max, cut - adjust to suit). Some of the most beautiful clean tones I've ever heard! I max the master (as always) and adjust the volume to suit the situation. Enjoy!
