Jesse already picked up what I need from the shack and I might be able to make a couple tonight... I'll post a pic of em if I do (later tonight) and they'll look just like the nicer switchcraft ones except they'll have the radio shack jacks... these should actually be nice though...

Alright, it ain't as pretty as the "nice" version could be but it WORKS... pretty good I might add... heres A pic.. I am not thrilled about the "shack's" jacks (no offense to the shack) and I don't think I would make one with these jacks for anyone but myself... and I certainly wouldn't sell it.. it or the adapters may last twenty years but wl the Jacks, the metal is kinda flimsy, I don't like the plastic, and the ends ( especially the female ends) are NOT made for the larger size 16 gauge wire ( glad I didn't go with 14 gauge)... had to modify the jacks with the dremmel and used the regular 60/40 solder instead of the silver solder cause it was a booger to get everything in there... and took a little more work to make it than it should have cause of the jacks (sometimes cheaper REALLY ain't better or cheaper)... think it would be better to just use the switchcraft in the first place... [/i] anyway, I'm gonna go ahead and order me some GOOD jacks, just wanna know if anybody else besides jharris would be interested in me making one of these for you out of the better stuff... ( btw it ain't rocket science and alot of you guy's could probably make your own, or get a company that makes cables to do one cheaper than I could get the parts?? ) BUT let me know if you want one though and I'll order enough to make a few of em for anybody ON THE FORUM if thats OK with DR Z, lefty and the other moderators .... I'm gonna make me a good un and I'll get the stuff, and make one just to make sure it's good enough before I do em for anybody else... Jason

Hey guy's I e-mailed TODD at Pro Cables N Sound ( JWR mentioned these guy's earlier in the thread!! good call!) and he said they could do this Y cable..It wouldn't be MORE than 35.00 + shipping (probably be less cause he misunderstood the length and quoted the price for a 4 FT cable instead of a 4 IN one... probably my fault really... ) they are on the web at www.greatcables.usthis Y cable would use their 12 gauge high quality speaker wire... and jumbo switchcraft end... bluzsteel I asked for the angled end ..... but haven't heard back about that yet... don't know if they can use the 12 gauge wire with the angled end??? but we'll find out... anyway, instead of me makin em, I'm gonna try these guy's cause it sounds like they know cables and I like the larger gauge... when I get around to it I'm gonna have em make me a few regular cables for my cabs too... OK, Todd at Pro Cables N Sound said it would be $32.50 for the 12 gauge cable with switchcraft STRAIGHT plugs and that a standard switchcraft RIGHT ANGLE male plug would NOT fit the cable.... he said he thought the NEUTRIK connector would work but was gonna make sure they could fit it in the right angle but said he could use 4 conductor cable to make it fit and be more compact. of course the Neutrik will cost more BUT would be very high quality and durable...... He said "The main cost here is the connectors, especially the female one." he also said.... " I'll set up a special coupon for the dr z amp folks once we get your cable nailed down." after checking what I'd have to pay for connectors, I think thats a fair price.... I'm thinkin on my Z's I would rather use something higher quality like this cord than a radio shack type adapter that may be a little cheaper, my transfomer i'm sure is NOT cheaper... and was very cool about the Z forum members... Is it for speaker use? Might be more current than the little shielded wires can carry safely.

Hey all, I've been working with Jason on making up a high quality, durable, professional built Y adapter for you guys. It will have a right angle plug that will plug into the back of the amp and will have two large body female speaker jacks coming out of it. This sould be nice and beefy and be very durable. Should be ready for review by the end of the week. I'll put a picture of up on my website and post the link for feedback. Jason has already agreed to try the first one out! Someone posted a connector from Radio shack that is a headphone splitter . . . that won't work because the trs (stereo end) won't line up properly with your output jack on your amp. Also, since the output of your amps is mono is will only take you signal and send it to one side of the amp instead of splitting it. more to come Todd

Hi Bluzsteel, I did some research and checked in with some of my wholesalers and found a G & H right angle that has a large hole out the back to allow 4 wires to pass through it. Should work out great. I see that someone found a Y adapter from zzounds in an earlier post, that would work fine if it was made of speaker cable. Using signal wire for your powered output can be hard on your amp. Nothing serious, just something to keep an eye on. I can wait to get this connector done and see what all of you think of it. Todd ps, thanks for the Karma Jason! Its been a blast working with ya!

Its finished everyone, the Y adapter is finished and ready for a peak. I cannot see a way of posting a picture on this site so I will add to my company site. Sorry if it looks like a sale plug but this all started by trying to help Jason out with Y cable. Here are some stats on the Y adapter: It is wired in Parallel so you can use a 4omh output on your amp with 2 8ohm speaker It can be wired in series as well Right angle connector is by G&H and is a solid core 1/4" connector with a large opening out the back The female large bodies are by Switchcraft and are awesome beefy connectors. The cable is 14 gauge high quality, high strand copper speaker cable The over all length is 9 3/4", its about as short as we can make it because connector shells need to fit in between the themselves in order to assembled. The junky molded cables can be shorter but they have a high failure rate and are impossible to repair, thats why we don't use them. Lets see, what else, what else, oh, ya, we shrink tube everything so it stays together, we even shrink the cables inside the connectors so things don't ever short out while being flexed. Okay, I'll get the link on my site ready and post it shortly Todd

I'm anxious to get some feedback on this. This will be a new offering for my company and you guys are the first ones to get a look at it! thanks, Todd

Hey Greg, You got the first Y cable! You managed to beat Jason to it by a couple of hours. We are going to start stocking some 14 gauge speaker cable for our guitar player customers. The 12 is too big for the power that most guitar amps kick out. Its not a bad thing. I anyone is interested we could start a disussion link talking about it. We could have some of you guys do some testing for us. Could be fun!!! Who knows. Sky is the limit and we can build it.
