I just had that info posted on Brad's site. I went back and looked at all the old recording notes for the first 2 albums also. Hope y'all enjoy it! Zac Zac~ That is in my opinion the best feature yet on Brad's board!! Thanks so much for adding all that info from albums past to present! Awesome! On to my question... re: Brad's acoustic (McPherson) which one does he play LIVE during his acoustic set on stage... is it still the MG-4.5XP? If so due to the off set sound hole technology on them do they require a p/u (sorry if that's a stupid question I'm new at this) I absolutley love the sound that guitar has, so woodsy and natural! Also I notice that Brad takes turns playing the Larrivee for some shows and others he'll play the McPherson is that just purely by preference? Or does it have to do with where he's playing (sound acoustics, indoor/outdoor venue) Thanks and btw...even though Chad has done a fine job filling your size 14 shoes, ;D you will always be missed! Can't wait to see the words Produced by: next to your name ~Jen Your welcome on the info. It took a while to track it all down. It was hard for me to remember on the albums I worked on. Brad has been experimenting with pickups on the McPherson. Its hard to get a great acoustic sound plugged in, and playing in the venues he is now playing in. The Larrivee is a backup. It is still used, but not often. Thanks, Zac

Hey Zac, quick question for ya, On paisley's 52/57 tele, I am taking a look at the vintage guitar cover with Brad on it and are the fret sizes on that neck bigger than 6015 frets. Just curious about that. Also, his hamel's, what exactly do you mean as the de-gaused versions? Thanks!

Which Z amp in particular does Brad rely on for that fat round sound he gets on i.e. The World, Alcohol, and I'll Take You Back? And what effects does he have inline for it? I see he has a number of Zs that he uses live. I would imagine one or two are relegated to soloing. Thank you.

Hi Zac,
One more question here please. I see that Lindy had his Blues Specials (bridge pup) broken down into three magnet stagger types (flat poles, flat with raised D magnet, stock stagger), model type, and percentage overwound or underwound. What are in Brad's Crooks?
Thanks again, hope you're well.

However, the one in his '68 has slightly lower output than normal. Zac

Hey Zac,
I saw the previous post here, and have been wondering about why Brad uses Adders in the neck position of many of his Teles? Why the preference for Adder, and what quality does he like about it? And is there a particular model Adder he uses?
Thanx, Billy

Hey Zac, Happen to remember what amp(s) Brad used on the Christmas album? He seems to be a bit cleaner than normal, I'm guessing it was the Stangray? It's cool to listen to the albums & hear the change in tone with the change in amps: MOTT = Mazerati, Z-28, some MazJr, Old Vox TWW = mostly RxES, that old Vox again... Christmas album = On a related question: how much of brad's tone is the amps, and how much is a "decision" in the process? Meaning, Brad's tone is obviously thicker on MOTT than on the last 2 albums, was that a conscious choice, or just the amps? (MOTT happens to be my favorite album tone-wise).

Many Tele neck pickups tend to be overly tubby sounding. This one is quite useful. As far as I know, there is only one model. Contact Bill Crook, his website is: crookcustomguitars.com He can help you find one. Zac

The Stingray/Stangray was used on the Christmas album. Newest toy that he used on that record is a Fulltone Tape Echo. As far as your last question, I'll get back to you on that later. Got to go.......Zac

Hey Zac, My name is Joel. I'm a huge fan of Brad and his music. Love the guitar tones he's able to produce on each album. I guess my question to you would be when is Brad coming back to Canada (paricularily Alberta) for another tour concert. I've seen him twice (Calgary 2005, and Edmonton 2006) and I loved each show. I'd really like to see him again sometime live without having to travel way down into the states for a concert. Gotta say I love the RXES. I don't own one yet, but the more I hear about it and the more I research it looks like its the amp made for me. I like the ideas i've heard around the boards about an RXES jr. I would go for that. A less intense version of the RXES. Thanks a lot Zac, you guys do great work. Joel P.S. Have you ever played in Brad's band during a show? (That would be awesome!!)

On some TV special or DVD or something, there is a scene where Brad & his tech (you Zac?) are backstage, and the 1st Proto of the Stingray shows up. Brad plugs in for a minute, and comments on the tone of it. I just can't remember where I saw that...
I've scoured my Mud On The Lens DVD, the CMT Muddi Gras special, and the Brad Paosley Inside Fame special, but can't find it anywhere.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Hi Zac - thanks for all the info. Pickup question -- I'm playing a G&L ASAT, with the stock MFD pickups. Very thick, punchy, almost HBucker territory. I am considering Fralin Blues Specials based on Mr. Paisley's gear list - just want to ensure that I achieve the difference intended. More Tele "clangy" clarity, but not overly bright/piercing. Also, if anyone knows if these will be drop in replacements vs. the stock G&L pups? Thanks in advance.

hey Zac...I just got my first Dr Z amp (a 2x12 Mazerati) and love it.
What delay pedal would you recommend? I love Brad's playing immensely but won't spend $800 for an AquaPuss delay pedal!

Zac, Noticed you guys are using a Axess buffer in the rig, how is it being used, where do you have it placed in the signal chain and where are you thoughts on it? Do you like the sound, does it color the signal any, how do the vintage guitars respond to it?
Thanks, Randy

Hey Zac, got a question about Paisley's amps on the Christmas album. I read that Brad used the Stang Ray alot on the album, but I can't figure out what he was using on the Jingle Bells instrumental. It's got more drive than I would expect out of the Ray. Is that the RxES, or is it the Ray with some sort of drive pedal? The clarity is making me think it's the Ray with some sort of boost. Thanks

I was out with them the week afterwards to interview Brad for Vintage Guitar Magazine. Zac

If they are the larger pickups in the standard Asat, they will not. They are great pickups, and shoulkd fit the bill. Zac
