I've been playing around with a boost into the front of my Maz jr NR, & was wondering...
If I put the boost into the effects loop, will I only drive the power tubes? Will I notice the difference? Or will I just break something?
Anyone else tried this? Enquiring minds want to know!

Depending on the clarity of the boost you'd probably have a terrific way of boosting your volume for solos without affecting the distorted or clean tone of your amp. I used to put a DOD FX10 in the loop, run boost/OD/distortion into the front, and when I had to solo, step on the FX10 and rock away. When finished, off it went and my volume dropped to where it had actually been before. No more onstage volume wars...

I have used my Luxury Drive T clean boost in the loop. Works great, just as tjstrat said. Actually Juaernig makes the "T" model specifically for going in the loop with an extra volume knob.

Barge Concepts makes a real nice boost called the DB2 that has a channel you can mildly distort and a second that crispy clean. And actually what I use in my Maz 38's loop, when I use it, is one of J Everman's Pot pedals, which is actually a reverse boost: You set your amp to burn, the click the pedal ON and set a rhythm volume. There's a capacitor that keeps you from losing the high end. Ths is great because there's absolutely no added gain like you might get even with a squeaky clean booster in the loop. Matt Farrow at Pharaoh Amps recommends that his Class A Boost be tried this way as well...

Great. Something else I'll have to buy. While the Luxury Drive works great in the loop, I'm using it in front with the rest of my pedals. It sounds so good as a light crunch rhythm or boosting my Timmy or for semi-clean soloing that I couln't leave it in the loop. The "pot" sounds like just the rig for that. Karma for ya' TJ.
