i recently tried out a maz 18. great sounding amp, but it seems to break-up at around 3 o'clock. don't get me wrong it sounded amazing. i just think i might need more headroom. i don't need '80 funk clean. it can have a little "hair" on it.
what have you maz 18 users experienced? is there enough headroom to play out with? can you roll off the gain w/ the guitar's volume?( i forgot to check) i would consider the 38, but the 18 seemed more aggressive.

This amp is very touch sensitive and will provide ample headroom. Putting a 12ax7A in V-1 or a 5751 will give you even more.Go to the TUBES section of the forum and brouse around abit. The Maz series is easily the most versitale of Z amps and can provide many sounds. Maz Sr may be more what your looking for.Ive got a Jr., and I find that it has a great ability to cut thu the mix . The Mazz Sr. is a tad less aggressive, and more power,as well. Chip
