Hi all, just wondering if any of you airbrake users could give me some info. I have heard some say that with this amp, the master volume is good enough that you do not need the airbrake, however i notice some of you still use it anyways. Can anyone hear chime in?

I use it and I don't think I could survice without it. The amp's pretty loud and I think it sounds better when you can use the master at reasonably high levels (volume as well depending on what you're looking for). I used it at practise and gigs.

Hi! How much does the AirBrake affect the sound of the MAZ? I own a Weber Mini Mass but -to be honest- I don´t realy like it. It you don´t crank it up completely, it ruins the sound of the amp.

I think the need for an AirBrake is dependent on your style and your sound. I run the preamp and master volumes at a about 2 o'clock. I like some good crunch on my sound and some nice overdrive on the solos. I'm dependent on the amp for the sound since I really don't use any pedals. You get more 'hair' on the sound and it really starts to fill out when you crank the master up. It's perfect for me.
I've found that it's pretty transparent if you only use the main attenuator control. So, you can get about 10 dB of attenuation. I used to click it down to 4 (8 dB) or Bedroom (8 dB) for rehearsal and I don't think that we were a loud band. If you're practicing by yourself, it's still a little loud in the bedroom and I wasn't crazy about the sound when I kicked in the bedroom level fine attenuation.
I hope this is helpful. I agonized about buying one for a while and was very glad once I did. It was like I got a whole new amp.

For the way I use the amp, it sounds better without the Airbrake. I run the Volume about 12:00 and the Master as loud as the venue permits for my cleanish rhythm sound. Then I run 3 OCDs into it, setup differently, for all my distortion needs. For solos, two fo the pedals are adjusted for a Level boost, which also causes some amp distortion. In these modes the Master volume works better than the Airbrake does. However, I have cranked the amp itself for all my distortion and, in that case, the Airbrake is essential for taming volume...and it sound very transparent, once again, as long as you stay out of Bedroom mode.

I bought an Airbrake for my Marshall DSL 50, but when I purchased my Maz Jr I have'nt found a need it. I've gigged at several venues including outdoors an find I can dial in an assortment of great tones without attenuating the amp.

I can't imagine a MAZ Junior EVER needing an Air-Brake.
