Hey all, I was just wondering if any of you could give me some input on a problem I have been having. After playing certain notes on the guitar, the amp will produce a glassy "after note" that follows the original note. It sounds like a glassy vibration that last maybe half a second following the original note. I was just wondering if any of you have experienced this, and what you did to fix it. I will inform you of how I went about trying to fix it. First, I e-mailed the doc who told me to see if any of the tubes were microphonic. Sure enough, the V4 12AX7M tube was microphonic. I replaced it with a brand new one. The same problem continued to occur. I put in another good one. Same problem. I then took off the tube covers and played with them off. This time no glass rattle. Put them back on. Still no glass rattle. I am going out of my mind here Anyone had this problem before?

Yup. Also had a problem with V4.
Two possibilities: 1) another microphonic tube or 2) your EL-84's are rattling.
What I've found to be the best way to test for this is to use something like a pencil to press up against the tube and see if it reduces or removes the rattle. If it does, that's your culprit.

Yup, tried the pencil test, but could not seem to locate the problem. I did replace the V4 tube and it does not appear as consistently as it used to. As of now it is not doing it at all.
