Hi everybody, first post here. I just got my Maz 18 NR head Friday afternoon and have spent several hours this weekend fiddling with it. Wow!! I never had a chance to actually play a Maz, but decided to buy based on some clips I heard from various artists. I am amazed at the rich tone I was able to get almost immediately. This amp is so much more touch responsive and "out front" than the other EL84 based amps in my stable. That will take some getting used to, but I think it is going to make me a better player. Looking forward to the first gig with it!

Welcome to the forum tex.... You'll get used to it and then you'll be addicted like the rest of us with Z-Gas... DrZ's have not only made me a better player but they have made my playing more fun than ever...I even look foward to practice with my Ghia!! Let us know how your first gig goes..... Jason

Whoa! a brush with fame!.... I have Buddy to thank for giving me the Z GAS in the first place. His solo playing on the Mayall DVD was astounding. (Gave me major Strat GAS too, but I'll have to settle for my old Tele for now.) Still fiddlin with the Maz 18 knobs tonight. By the way, BW, I'm really in Euless but not many people know where that is. Hello from the "mid cities".

Tex, Buddy is a great guy and real down to earth as are most of the guy's on this Forum... and ummm also as you know, a KILLER guitarist! Also one of the MANY pros on this forum, sometimes they just chime in ( DR Z does too), some just kinda lurk OR You can go to the Expert section of this forum and ask some of them questions directly... Great wealth of info to be had here... Oh and umm, BTW... the way Buddy sets his tone for his MAZ 38 SR, works very well with the MAZ JR too. Jason

Hey Paul, the one in the pic is an Avatar semi-open back with 2 12" Eminence Wizards. I'm also experimenting with a closed back 1x12 with a Vintage 30. So far I like 'em both, but man that Vintage 30 is super bright! Can't decide. Suggestions?

Well, Hello back atcha from the Mid-Cities...you'd be surprised how many people know where Useless...er..Euless is, I'm over here in Worst...er..Hurst. Or as Dave Millsap would say, The EAST side...(upper lip curls in indignation, facial expression akin to experiencing the aroma of boiled cabbage...) You know, I think we may even have somebody from Deadford...er...Bedford around here. If that brush w/ fame gets you four quarters for a dollar somewhere, let me know;^)

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. And special props to my "East side" brutha. Found the sweet spot on my rig. This works great for both my Tele and LP:
Cut: 9 (all settings o'clock) Master: 10 Bass: 8 Mid: 9 Treble: 1 Volume: 2
Ears ringing, broke again. Happy.
- Tex
