Whats some of your favorite pedals and amp settings you like to use with with you z28?
Also, do you have a favorite guitar with it?

I keep the red side (regular gain) of a KOT and the reverb side of a Flint on all the time. I also use a Carbon Copy set to slap back from time to time. The KOT is usually set to around 1:00 - 2:00 Volume and Drive. The Flint is set around 10:00 for Decay, Color, and Mix. The Carbon Copy is set at 8:00, 12:00, 10:00 for Regen, Mix, and Delay. I don’t have a guitar preference.

The Friedman Smallbox pedal rocks for me. I keep the settings close to 11:00 to noon all around, on the low gain switch. A Timmy or a Gain Changer work well too. It loves pedals, and I mostly play humbuckers.

I have the yellow side of my KOT and my Barber Electronics Direct Drive on all the time. I use a Carbon Copy or a Strymon Flint reverb side some. The CC gets used more, for some slap back, than I use the reverb. Never really use tremolo.

Just for fun, try a tube screamer (I think everyone has one, no?) and put the gain and volume on full. To me, it sounded like the best fuzz pedal I ever heard (probably did it with a Strat). I wasn't expecting it at all, and it's not terribly practical because it makes the amp about twice as loud, but it speaks to how the ef86 is quite a bit different from a 12ax7.

I can attest to these pedals being awesome with the Z28 MKII

Every pedal! Seriously though, it takes pedals so well. I do love my decibelics golden horse for overdrive as well as a light speed.

I’m not really a pedal guy, but I’ll agree the ones I own that I tried with my Z-28 sound the very best they ever have, without question. What I’m really loving is that all my guitars plugged straight into the amp also sound the best they ever have... From strats, to teles, to ‘buckers, this combo is really a dream come true.

What settings do you use for that fuzz? I have one, but it hasn't made it on my board yet.

What settings do you use for that fuzz? I have one, but it hasn't made it on my board yet. I have yet to find a setting that I don’t like. The trick for me with these styles of fuzzes is to have guitar volume rolled back a touch. I play a Collings 290 and have both pickup volumes around 8 for my clean sound and will have a KOT or Lightspeed as my base drive sound. Stacking the fuzz on top of the drive with my guitar volume rolled back a bit is just amazing!

My favorite drive pedal so far with the Z-28 MKIi is the J Rockett HRM V2. The J Rockett Dude is great too but having the mid knob on the HRM makes it more versatile.

I set the volume at about 12 and the master depending on the room treble at 1 bass at 11. My favoriye pedals are the lovepedal TChula gold the Vemuram shanks ODS-1 and the Jam pedals Fuzz Phrase SI those three pedals stacked sound tremendous together. Plus you can roll your volume and tone knobs to get anything you want from clean to all out carnage.I use those the most and also the Jam pedals Rattler. Its really a great pedal as well its like an overdrive/fuzz. The bottom line is this amp will take anything you throw at it. It just takes your pedals and makes them sound like they are part of the amp. It is my # 1 gigging amp.
