As you can see from my avatar, I have a Ghia sitting on top of a Z Short 2x10. It is loaded with Weber 10F150Ts with light doping. Great Sonics…and LOUD! I just installed two Tone Tubby Blue Sky Alnicos, which are low efficiency…96.8db according to TT. These speakers cut the volume by almost half…in my rough estimation. The difference is startling…and useful. The Ghia can be turned up to get the circuit working without getting into the very loud output that is achieved with the Webers when pushing the amp hard enough to get to where I want to be. In short, one could choose the speaker cab depending on the venue. These TT Blue Sky speakers also compress and chime more than do the Webers. Just sharing…..I like these TT speakers, which are 60 watt versions of the TT Chicago Blue speaker. These speakers are TT’s take on Jensen Alnicos built in Chicago in the late ‘50s. and yes….I still want an Air Brake Lite.

I’m with on a lower efficiency speaker with the Ghia. I don’t care for Red Fangs partially for that reason.

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I wanted to share a serendipitous find I made on Reverb: a Carmen Ghia head. The unit looked fantastic, and although I wasn't familiar with it, my research convinced me to give it a try, especially since I had never used a Dr. Z amp before.
When it arrived, I plugged it into my 1x12 cab with a Red Fang 12” speaker and was blown away. The sound was exactly what I had been searching for: thick but sparkly, clean but dirty.. I guess it’s hard to put into words.
Two months later, I found an opportunity to buy another Carmen Ghia, this time a 1x10 combo. I wanted a more portable setup for jams and to keep a unit downstairs. The amp sounded great, but I noticed it was unusually heavy for its size. It turned out that the factory-installed Red Fang 10” speaker was the culprit.
I decided to swap the Red Fang 10” for a Celestion Creamback 10” I had on hand. To my delight, the new speaker worked exceptionally well, offering plenty of headroom and bite while also reducing the amp's weight by about 5 pounds.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but I wanted to share my experiences with different speakers and the Carmen Ghia.
