I hope it's okay to ask this here, but what's the speaker that you find to be most like the Dr. Z 12" Speaker?
I have a brown Deluxe clone that has a speaker in it that's not a good match for the amp. It sounds good when the amp is set clean, but fizzy- almost like a voltage starved fuzz pedal- when the amp is cranked. I've tried many of the other speakers in my collection in it and prefer the Dr. Z 12" from my Cure by a large margin! Thing is, I love the Dr. Z 12" in the Cure- it's staying there. So I need another one.
So far, I've tried- -Dr. Z 12" (just right- nice clean, holds together when dirty)
-Weber 12A125 (good clean, fizzy when dirty)
-Weber 12A125-S (better clean, fizzy when dirty)
-Eminence Alessandro GA-SC64. (dull when clean, not bad dirty)
-Eminence Greenback type (not the sound I'm after with this amp)
-Scumnico (not the sound I'm after with this amp)
-Greenback (not the sound I'm after with this amp) -WGS ET-65 (close, but not the sound I'm after with this amp)
-Celestion G12-65 (from 1982) (not the sound I'm after with this amp)
-Celestion Neo V-Type (probably the closest to what I'm after, so far)
Keep in mind that I really like these speakers in the amps and cabs they're installed in.

I would try the Celestion A Type. I”m a huge fan of the Dr Z 12”. I bought the A Type to try in my 63 Magnatone 440 and it just transformed that amp into an absolute killer amplifier.

I’ve tried a Weber AlNiCo Blue Dog 12 with my Z-Plus, which has a Z-12. It’s much closer than my Scumback M75 or Eminence GA-64 in terms of breakup, but the voicing is different because it’s like a Celestion Blue. I would think in terms of magnet size, voice coil diameter and cone shape. The Z-12 has a 38oz magnet, 1.75” voice coil and a more American style cone. Eminence may have something similar.

Hmmm, If I get a chance, I'll compare my Z12 with a WGS G12C tomorrow. If my memory serves correct, which it often doesn't, they seem fairly similar. Moreso than the Alessandro.

Sorry for the delay-lay-lay.
G12C seems a little louder and brighter but isn't as full sounding as the Z12. Even though the Z12 isn't as bright, they are equally clear. A/B'ing them today, the G12C wasn't as interesting to me. If I had to choose between the two, I'd hold out and go with the Z12.

Having gone down the speaker rabbit hole a few times over the years (like many here), if you have found a speaker you like just get another Z12. I don't know if the Doc sells them separately, but if not, I'm sure that they pop up used every now and then.

If you don’t want to go for Z-12, I would suggest you give a call to Eminence. They MIGHT share with you what they have in their catalogue that is close….or they might NOT share that since Dr. Z is a current customer. I will take a WAG and say that you might want to try an Emi GB128.

I don't mean to start rumors that aren't true, however--to my best memory--I thought Doc explained his Z-12" speaker as essentially a ceramic-magnet version of the Eminence/Eric Johnson EJ1250 speaker. (The earlier 50W model painted tan, not the later 1240 blue one.) Those 1250's probably aren't super easy to find anymore, but I thought I'd just throw this out there... since you said "most like the Dr. Z 12" speaker."
