I'm not satisfied yet with a common amp setting switching from my single coil Strat to my Filtertron loaded Gretsch unless I use pedals. Not that I have any objection to that but I love the individual tone straight into the amp I can get from each one but they don't crossover very well. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a similar problem using tv jones T’Armonds. I use an eq pedal to balance the frequencies between my guitars. I tried twiddling the knobs between switching guitars and had moderate success with only a few to turn but not as care free as stepping on a pedal.

I have a 2006 Gretsch Brian Setzer 6120 Nashville. It had TV Jones Classics in it and it always seemed to be boomy with my Z-Plus and Carmen Ghia, which I set up for my Strats and Tele. It was bass heavy with my other amps too. I tried all kinds of tweaks and pedals with bass cut like the Nocturne Dyno Brain and Mystery Brain and the Tumnus Deluxe. They were okay but not quite there and I didn’t want to have a one guitar pedal on my board. I eventually got a set of TV Jones Ray Butts Filtertrons to replace the Classics. This solved the problem. The bass is much tighter and they are not too trebly either. I can run it into my Z-Plus and Ghia with no EQ changes. I generally run it with a Suhr Woodshed comp always on for clean and a Tumnus for a bit of a push. I do this for my other guitars as well. The TV Jones Classics are nice pickups, but the Ray Butts work better with other guitars in the same rig. They sound great too. These are the pickups in Brian’s ‘Smoke’ guitar.

Actually I have the Brian Setzer Smoke guitar with the Ray Butts pickups. I also went the Dyno Brain route and sold it off. I've been considering adding a compressor to my board and I have a pedal I use as a clean boost. I'll give this a shot, I'm not miles away and it might be a simple fix. Thanks for the reply!

I use a gretsch g6112 tcb-jr with hs filtertrons and a Collings 290 with lollar p90s. Treble is usually around 1-2, bass at around 11, and volume 10-12. I use the guitars interchangeably with good results

If you're using pedals I'd recommend putting a 7-band EQ pedal in the mix and setting it to the Gretsch, rather than fiddling with the amp when switching guitars.
