We know it sounds great with the Creamback (this video) and the stock WGS speaker from Chris' Matt Music video. How does it sound with a Gold or the Z12? I'm sure you guys tested it on all those. I'm looking at the head and already have Z cabs loaded with a Gold, Z12 and a Creamback.

Gold is great if you are looking for overall maximum chime and leaning towards the Stang Ray side and less the DB4 side. We pick the best speaker for the overall sound of the amp, clean, edge-of-breakup, and mean. Often times the individual player will find their sweet spot and stay there, then pick the speaker that best emphasizes the particular tone they have settled on.

I'm looking at the head and already have Z cabs loaded with a Gold, Z12 and a Creamback. Hello! I don't know if this will help but I linked a quick comparison below of the Celestion Creamback M and the Gold using 1x12 open back Celestion DSRs at a 50/50 mix of an SM57 and Royer 121 set at the center of the cone and a reverberant room setting using a STC 4033A (stereo ribbon coincident with an omnidirectional dynamic) all loaded into Celestion Speakermix Pro. The guitar is an Eastman SB56 with a Mojotone 56 Quiet Coil P-90 in the bridge position. I tried to select a progression that uses a lot of the "thin strings" . Creamback M is first, then the Gold. All controls on the X-Ray set at noon, full power into a Two Notes Captor reactive load. I have no idea what either of those speakers sound like live and I made this demo simply to highlight the differences between the speakers and not to establish a baseline for either speaker. X-ray Creamback vs Gold
