I think the solar flares took out my daily driver!. I love this amp. I check the fuse and I'm OK there. I dont even get the blue light to turn on. Is the best guess a tube went out?

My Z-plus did that once or twice. Check that it is plugged in at the back of the chassis.

Ouch... $180 for a set of all new tubes.

Probably not your issue but I used to toss my tuner, etc into the back of my Maz combo when taking it to play out. One time everything seemed fine but no sound. Turns out I had knocked one of the speaker terminal wires off and only figured it out right before the first set. I was going crazy checking everything under the sun up on stage. After that I soldered my connections for several years until I stopped playing out. Good luck.

Speaker terminals are good. It's deader than a door nail.

I recommend you put a thread in the Amps/Trouble Shooting Section. You will get a quicker response from those who know.

To eliminate the simple things, try another outlet or plug something else in the one you're using, just in case it's bad. Try another power cord and make sure it's well seated. I'd also try plugging in another speaker. If nothing is lighting up and all else is good. I'd go with rectifier tube as blown as a first guess.

meter the fuse, it may be dead and not show any signs The fuse has some burn marks and I just tested it again and it is blown. Never had an amp blow a fuse before.

My money is on a bad rectifier tube.

My money is on a bad rectifier tube. I too agree with Mikes diagnosis. I would order a Dr. Z recommended Rectifier and a couple of new fuses for safety. I bet that works.

Almost certain the rectifier tube went bad and blew the fuse.

I agree with those identifying the rectifier as the most likely culprit, but while you’re ordering a rectifier, order some power tubes. I had a bad power tube take down my MAZ 18 once. It’s always a good idea to have a spare set of power tubes on hand and a rectifier. Failure of preamp tubes in my experience is a rarer occurrence.

First stop- Dr. Z's Troubleshooting page. You should have spare fuses and power tubes for each amp you own as well as a spare rectifier of each type that your amps use and a couple of preamp tubes.

I bought fuses (10), and the amp is back up and running. Any issues using slo-blow fuses? The filiment in the old one was thicker than normal. I also looked at the tubes and they were all glowing. The blue light bulb was not working, but when I went to replace it, it turned on and it's fine for now. Tha KS for the help.

I believe that all current offerings use slo-blow fuses. You can check this under the Tubes and Bias info under the Support tab to make sure yours is not one of the few that uses fast-blow fuses. The ones that use fast-blow fuses appear to be all legacy models.
