Interesting take by Joe Perkins on the Ghias big brother:
Joe feels the Mazerati is very close to a Hiwatt tonally and responded to me that he now has a Fane F70 in his Mazerati V2 and is really happy with it. He demos the Mazerati with the stock V30.
Anyone have a chance to shootout a Ghia with a Hiwatt? The Ghia gets compared to early Marshalls, Voxes, and Tweed amps on this forum, so Hiwatt makes sense to me as I’ve always thought they sounded the most Fendery of the British amps.
And would make sense why many different opinions about what the Ghia sounds like as most probably don’t have experience with Hiwatts. I for one have never played one personally.
I’ve been on a mission to classify the Ghia not because it needs to be classified but because I’m trying to figure out which amps would be a redundant addition to the collection.

This is interesting to me. I was just thinking this very thing the other day. I played a hiwatt custom 50 in the studio years ago and I loved it. I have a mazerati arriving Wednesday and my ghia is at z HQ getting a master volume installed. I may be able to speak into this more in a few days. Great question and interested to hear what the other guys have to say.
Cheers!
