Hi I keep my Jr 18 at home to practice and a Twin Reverb in our rehearsal hall. I find that my overdrive pedals really need different settings to get the same (close) sounds What I don't understand is that, at the same settings, they seem to overdrive the Twin more than the Z. Is it me?I use a Mosferatu, Zen, BD2(Keeley) and an AC Booster and while they sound nice and creamy on the Z - when I get to rehearsal, the same gain settings sound too distorted. Can anyone expain this to me? (Sorry I was long winded for a simple question....) THanks Guys Dickie

Also your front end tubes in the twin may be older and more vulnerable/susceptible to overdrive drive than the ones in your Z. You power amp tubes can also take on a different personality with your pedal depending on how hard you run the Twin, Whether or not the Twin's tubes are in good shape and the amp s biased right, etc. Could be a speaker thing as well, depending on how hard you run the twin at the practice hall. Could be the top end in your twin might sound raspy and make the pedals sound more distorted to the ear because the top ends of the two amps are voiced quite differently. Could just flat out be the two different personalities of the amps too. Try a few things and see if you can pin it down. Hope this helps, Mark Humphrey Humphrey Audio
