I was just looking at the Dr. Z website and noticed that the CAZ-45 is no longer listed under products. I found the CAZ-45 page in the "Legacy Models" section and at the top of the page it says, "*Note: production of this amp ended in Jan. 2024."
It's too bad that the amp has been dropped though I can't say that I am surprised. I love the amp but it doesn't seem to have caught on. I also have a Carmen Ghia 35th Anniversary and it has also been removed, though that was expected. So, I have two Zs and neither is made any more.

Too bad. If I didn't have another amp expected to show up in the next 3-6 months, I'd grab once from my dealer here in Canada.

Well first the Carmen Ghia 35th Ann. was only available during our 35th year as a special. Going forward all Ghia's will be equipped with PPIMV stock . Can't be the 35th Ann in year 36 right ? Yes the CAZ 45 was a special amp and a great sounding amp but it didn't really fit my customer base that well. Players looking for higher gain amps were not looking to DR.Z amps . Also I must thin the herd every year as I add new amp designs to my list, too many models just confuse. I feel legacy models will become a bigger part of my production going forward. Z

Z Yes, understood about the 35th Anniversary Ghia. That was actually one of the selling points. You did a great job with the CAZ-45 and I have no regrets about that purchase. It's an outstanding amp. I've been playing around with your Kemper profiles and one amp that impressed me was the Antidote. If you reviving legacy models, an Antidote with a master volume would be interesting.

Dang... I absolutely love my CAZ for clean tones and gained up sounds too. People don't know what they're missing.

I understand the business decisions, but this is sad. It's a great amp for a lot of styles of music. Mine's not going anywhere.

Makes me kinda miss the “old” 1x10 convertible cabs. I’ve got a couple of them and I have really enjoyed them over the years. I’ll bet I could take one up or down in my sleep. I probably should start nosing around on reverb for another one just to have around. With a 10” Alnico RF it gives up very little to anything!

I have a 1x10 and it sounds great, I’d love to have a convertible to go with it. That’s how I run my 12” cabs, one closed, one open.

Bubs, the ones I’m talking about aren’t convertible from open to closed but rather from a 1x10 combo to a standalone 1x10 speaker cab. I always thought it was typical sheer Doc genius and loved them. Still do but I guess I’m in the minority.

Well, this makes me want to try and make another video of this amp. How would I name that video?

Thanks Adam, very fitting demo. The CAZ is a great amp design , I guess players just didn't look to DR.Z Amps for such a product.
