I bought a z28 Mk2 back in July and one original 5881 power tube started arcing and needed replacing after about 10 hours of play time. Got a sew set shipped from Dr Z and installed them last night...the amp is sounding great. That being said, the when I turn the amp on it has the "new amp electronics" smell still (had it before as well). Nothing is burning and the amp seems to be functioning perfectly. Not sure if this is the tubes or amp in general that are burning in or whatever. It is in a case when not being used, so its not dusty or anything. I have a Maz 18 NR Mk2 and it didn't have the same thing happen, hence why I'm asking you other Z28 owners if you've experienced the same thing. Any advise would be appreciated

Had the same hot electronic smell with mine too. It dissipates eventually. Love the amp.

That’s a smell that once gone, you will long for for the rest of your life. Like the vanilla smell of that new Gibson. Enjoy it!!
