I've always wanted a Ghia with the Master and was able to swing it with a Z-brother here. I know we don't listen with our eyes, but the 110 blond cab is the perfect match with my 212 vertical slant cab.
If I understood right I think the 10" Greenback is pretty new. I think it will benefit from some more break in. Sounds great through the 212, and really good with all three speakers.
I have some more paces to run it through, but grateful for the Master. This is guy is plenty loud even with it turned down a bunch. I'm around the house tomorrow so I'll be playing and swapping some tubes. I have an old RCA 5Y3 that I pulled out of an old organ years ago. It has given my other Ghia's a little softer feel than the JJ's. Excited to play around some with V1 and V2. I have a handful of preamps that have made a nice difference in my last Ghia.

Me likes that pair ! Also prefer the vertical 2x12 vs side by side in sound ….

What a fire breather! Got to run it with the Master wide open tonight. The 110 with the 212 is huge. I've had a 210 and a 110 Ghia before, but nothing like this. There is no circumstance when I would need more than what this set up would have to offer. I had been looking for a head, but there are plenty of times that the 110 is going to coming in handy all by itself. Still need to run it stereo with the Maz's.

Spent a lot of time with this guy today. Ran it stereo out of my DD-8 to the Ghia stack and a Maz 8. Absolutely beautiful.
I swapped the preamps out from the standard to a old GE 12ax7 in v1 and a Tube Amp Doctor 12ax7 in v2. After I had everything buttoned up and was cleaning up I found my my old Sylvania Jan 5751. That will go in v2 at some point. I think I ended up with both of those from a Swarts amp I bought. Didn't keep that long, but I swapped the vintage tubes for some JJ's before selling.

Cool info on the tube swaps. I have some GE 12AX7s and Telefunken ribbed 12AX7s, and an RCA 5Y3, gonna have to roll some tubes now. Though I love it just as it is. I also swapped a 10" GB style speaker (the Fat Jimmy C1065GB) in my 35th and it sounds great. Smoother top end than the stock Vet10.

Out of all the amps I've had, I've found that the Ghia is a fun platform to swap out the preamps. V1 is really responsive. I would be curious what you think of the older 5Y3. It doesn't make it super saggy, but for me softens it slightly in a way that I enjoy.

Spent a little time tube rolling in my 35th Ghia today. I tried one of my NOS GEs in V1 first, it seemed to bring more highs, definitely brighter than the stock JJ. I swapped the JJ back and liked it better.
Then I tried a Telefunken and that's the one. Kept the warmth of the JJ, but clearer highs (not brighter), tried the second Tele and sounded exactly the same so I left it in. Maybe a little less gain than stock, but raising the volume just a hair took care of that.
Didn't like the GE or Tele in the PI better than the stock tube so I left it (I think it is a new production Tungsol, but not going to pull apart again today to check). Just better warmth than the NOS tubes in that spot.
I swapped in the NOS 5Y3, not sure I hear a difference, but the master was lower than I like since the wife was home. She will be out for a few hours tomorrow, so I'll crank it up tomorrow and listen. Left the NOS recto in. Got a new Gretsch Sidewinder arriving tomorrow too, hope it gets here before she gets home so I can crank it through the Ghia and the Z-Plus.

I've always loved the Ghia. It was my first Z and I'm really happy to get one back and to finally have a master volume. I've been messing with the pedal board of late and added a tremolo so I haven't played with settings much. I gotta say, I really like how the amp reacts with the volume at noon, the tone is working nicely for me between 11 and 1 (mostly back and forth between the two depending what I'm playing, not so much at noon). I think the Greenback is starting to loosen up a little as well.
My wife works from home and I was around the house playing this morning. Brought the master down pretty low so as to not end up as the background for one of her meetings. Still sounded great. No way I would be running a Ghia the volume at noon most of the time without the master. Really glad that for everyone getting a new Ghia from now on that it will already have the master.

Don should be working on mine next week or the following! Can’t wait to try the master volume!!
