I've had my Z Plus with an alnico blue for several years and man is it a hard amp to beat. I've started messing around with lap steel and it's just a killer amp for that, but it got me thinking. I looked around and realized that I have a CAZ45 Z best cab, a Fryette PS2A and the Z Plus. Using the Fryette to bolster up the clean tones of the Plus beyond what the combo is capable of on its own is quite effective. Keeping the Plus clean and at full power but running it through the 50 watt power amp to significantly louder levels through the ported Z Best with that speaker combo its extremely impressive. I'm sure others have done something similar, but I haven't seen it talked about. The possibilities that the Z plus has on its own (killer tone, reverb, integral boost, FX loop, single ended class A operation, versatile eq, great master, eats pedals for breakfast but doesn't need them and so on) combined with the option to use what the cab and Fryette bring to the table... I honestly don't know what else you might want from home appropriate overdrive to LOUD clean tones in the real world. Have y'all done this sort of thing before?
