Hi all,
I've had my Wreck Jr combo for the last couple years and love the warmth, tonal variety it provides from clean to overdriven but I have been eyeing the CAZ-45 since its release for my hard rock fix.
For anyone that has played both, how does a CAZ-45 overdrive compare to a dimed Wreck Jr? I can get a good amount of overdrive out of the Wreck Jr, but i wouldn't call it that chunky, palm-muting style that lends to hard rock (i.e. Alice in Chains, Tool, Soundgarden, etc.). Is it fair to assume the CAZ can provide a much better platform for hard rock over a cranked Wreck JR?
Thanks!

There's more gain available, I would say roughly double of the dimed Z-Wreck Jr. I would consider the Z-Wreck in the "brown sound" territory. The CAZ can get much tighter, with more gain, and more control over the texture and timbre of the ovderdrive. My standard testing riff for the CAZ in the prototype days was "Dem Bones" by AiC. That's with the gain and aggression around 75% max. carrjimi is sure to add some insight as he plays lots of 90s songs in his cover band uses a CAZ 45.

I have a wreck and the CAZ.
The CAZ would definitely be a better platform for the harder stuff. You won't be dissatisfied with the CAZ it is a fantastic hard rock amp.

I actually have both too. Imo they compliment each other very well. They are definitely two different animals. Imo the caz is the perfect rock amp. It can do anything from early plexi to modern high gain. Whereas the wreck nails the edge of break up through medium gain tones. Plus does a great clean too. But I don’t really do clean. Haha.
