I am a diehard Telecaster player, and swear by the Fralin Vintage Hot set. I have a partscaster Tele with an American Original Thinline body and a Fender 50s Strat neck. The guitar is too bright, and I would love suggestions on pickups.
I started with the Fralin Vintage Hot-too bright. I ordered a set of Fralin Vintage Hot +2-better, but still on the bright side and too hot.
Where should I go next? My ear is VERY tuned to the Fralin alnico 5 with around 6.8k output in the bridge. I want that spec (give or take) with less highs.
Thanks!

I have an ash Tele was Vintage Hot Fralins 2 over on the neck and 5 on the bridge. I don’t find it too bright with my Ghia or Z-Plus. Have you tried lowering the pick ups? I found that I needed to lower them more than one would think. I play D’Addario XL 10.5-48 strings.

Thanks for the input. I will tinker with the height. I felt like I found the sweet spot height-wise, but that is a good idea.

I put a Fralin Blues Special bridge pickup in my ash Tele and it sounds really good- bright and twangy, yet fat.

I havr tried that set. They sound great! Just too hot for my taste. I like to push the amp a bit with the Blues Special bridge pickup. My set includes what Fralin used to call a "Stock" neck pickup overwound 2%. It's a smooth sounding pickup.

The old Fralin "Stock Tele" are now "Vintage Hot". I currently have the +2's in the Thinline. I'm gonna lower them a little and see if that gets me closer.

Thanks. I am wondering if this may be one of those Teles that I cannot get quite right myself.
Lindy is awesome-he has always been accessible and insightful. I have been working with Tyler (also great) the last few Fralin purchases.
