Hey, Todd. thanks for the shout out.
first thing i'll say is, kudos to Spotify for playing all the guitar solo parts in the previews. a joke i keep telling myself is "are there ten different solos or ten different versions of the same solo?" lol
About the cd... the cd was recorded between February 2022 and July 2023. Everything was recorded in a make-shift home studio. All of the material had been written and performed live over the previous 6 years so, we tracked bass, drums and guitar together live for each song into a Tascam 24-track and dumped that into pro-tools. We then re-recorded almost all of the guitar part (adding layered rhythm parts and all of the solos) and then vocals and a few bass parts had to be cleaned up. our engineer added some keyboard parts and we had a friend come in at the very end and add the Cornet melody for the intro to Nice. I then worked with our engineer to create the synth string arrangement under the cornet.
The fact that our engineer lived in our bassist's house where we recorded was very convenient to the process. He is a true pro-tools wizard. we made some mistakes up front by not fully mic'ing the drums and also my hearing loss affected my ability to be able to dial my guitar tones in the way i'd have liked but i think the end product is a pretty good representation of the music we'd put together. For the most part I'm playing a les paul R8 through a 1x12 Ghia (celestion blue) with some pedals for color and overdrive. I really couldn't get the volume on the amp up to where i'd have liked it so it's mosly clean with the drive from a Tubescreamer or a Dumble style pedal. i also used the Roger Mayer Vision Wah (rhythm guitar on Rotten) and for the solo in Rotten where it's engaged but i don't move the pedal (the way Jimmy Page uses it on the solo in Good Times, Bad Times).
i think the solos for Nice and all the melody and solo parts in Breakfast were actually recorded at my house using my old 2x12 Maz Invasion.
Speaking of Jimmy Page, I'd say the solo on Rotten is a nod to his influence on me. I always loved the solo he plays in the live version of the Immigrant Song (which is in F#, which is the same key as the solo in Rotten). About The Band… The Harrison Division came into existence in the Fall of 2015 when friends Chris Hyde and Ian Weintraub began rehearsing cover song material for a potential three-piece band. Ivan Gundersen joined in early 2016 and the trio’s first gig was at Capitol City Guitars for Olympia Spring Artswalk 2016. (Side note: Bob Johnson has been hosting bands on the sidewalk in from of his guitar store during Spring and Fall Artswalks for the better part of 20 years. It’s a great gig and The Harrison Division has been honored to perform there several times since.) Our individual interests in a variety of musical styles influenced a wide-ranging selection of cover material: from Leonard Bernstein to Led Zeppelin to John Coltrane to The Meters. As time passed, original material slowly began to replace cover songs. Our writing process would typically involve an idea brought in by Chris or Ian, which the band would then flesh out and arrange collectively at rehearsals. what else... oh, yeah. the recording can be streamed online on all the usual platforms. digital purchases on the same usual platforms (Amazon music, Apple music, Youtube Music, etc. i'm shipping hard copies of the cd's for $15. please include address info. thanks for listening!

Received mine Monday and gave it it’s first listening yesterday. WOW. what a truly excellent cd. wonderful playing by all 3 members, but our Poodle-man really shines. great tones and just stellar playing. was really blown away. My only complaint, if there is one, is the cd case did have a “skunky” smell to it when i got it! LOL. great job Eye-an and mates!

That was a long walk, but what a pleasant journey. Great videography! I am really proud of you and your bandmates, this is a fantastic voyage, which I can't seem to find in any new music. The guitar mix is fantastic. Really tasteful guitar all the way through, and of course you tone is fantastic. Bravo I say!

I put "Westside" on again this afternoon and I've gotta give Poodle a big shout out. The band has a really tight groove and Ian...you do a great, great job on the guitars. There are some really creative rhythm breaks and it's very nicely produced. Kudos!

You know all about the hearing issues i have. it was a struggle to be happy with my guitar and the over-all sound but after getting some distance and perspective, i'm pretty pleased.
I have a new band in the works and I think the recording process will happen much sooner. It will have more vocals but also, two guitars and a tight rhythm section. the two guitar stuff has been really fun.

Good to hear, Ian. You've got a lot to say musically and it's great to see you pursue it. A lot of us have some pretty serious hearing issues and it's great to see them being overcome! I know how hard it can be.
