I am experimenting with some different speakers in my Jetta. I would like a bit more high end sparkle, less mids. I tried a C-gold in the Jetta and did not care for it. It is usually my go to speaker, but did not like it in the Jetta. I am thinking of the Cannabis Rex as it is a louder speaker, and I need just a bit more clean headroom. I know speakers are not returnable and don't want to get one without knowing something about the speaker. If anyone has used this speaker in any combo, please let me know your pro's and con's. Thanks--Jester

If you're looking for more high end sparkle, I wouldn't go with the Cannabis Rex. It's used by folks to tame high end. It is loud and it does have recessed mid,s as it is an American voiced speaker. If you are going with Eminence, I would go with the Texas Heat, Swamp Thang or Red White and Blues. They are all loud speakers. All are similarly voiced. The Swamp Thang has more highs and maybe a hair less mids than the Texas Heat. The Texas Heat may also have a hint of British speaker in it also, compared to the other two. The Texas Heat is one of my favorite Eminence speakers, for whatever that's worth. It's very versatile in my opinion. I haven't had a lot of experience with the red, white and blues. If you go to Eminence's site, they have some good sound sample to compare their speakers.

I've had the 12" (twice) and currently have a pair of the 10" C-Rex's in a Z convertible cab. I've only used the C-Rex's in cabs though and have never played a Jetta. I find the 10's to be better balanced on their own than the 12 and preferred the 12 paired with a Gold in a 2x12. That was one of my all time favorite 12" speaker combinations. The 12" C-Rexs come up used pretty regularly for very fair prices. You don't see the 10's too often. Good luck.

I had a 12” c-Rex at one time and did not find the sparkle I was looking for. I did not purchase it for the sparkle, so I’m saying it lacked enough high end for me. I’ve grown quite fond of doc’s z-12. I find it the perfect speaker in my Z-Plus. I loved his 10’s in my Maz 18. I have also paired a 10” gold with a Z-10 in a z-convertible cabinet and have found my grail with my Therapy. My point is don’t overlook Doc’s speakers. They are affordable and very versatile.

I had one in my Cure and really liked it. I only changed it out to a Lil Texas Neo for weight savings.

I’ve never used the Cannabis Rex before but I do have a Red White and Blues 12” speaker.. It’s in a single 12 cab now but I had one in a tube amp combo some years back as well.. I like it pretty well..they are popular as a replacement speaker for the hot rod deluxe.. Hoss
