I was just sitting here playing a Strat through a Vemuram tsv808 clone into my Hammond Ghia and the tone control is just SO cool. It’s really the best single knob tone stack I know of. I’ve never tried it in a different circuit but at least for the Ghia, it’s perfect. I’m wondering how it was conceived. Was it a result of trying a lot of different ideas or was it created with a specific reasoning and goal in mind? Was it in an old book of circuits for tube amps, maybe? If anyone (especially the Doc) knows the story behind it, I’d love to hear it. It acts almost or actually very much like a Baxandall if it were just one knob. It’s like a Baxandall for just the mids or something. But it’s not active. Really cool.

I have mentioned the Ghia unique tone control in many video's I have recorded. What I tried to do is emulate the response of a sweeping Wha Wha pedal which traverses through the upper mids to the lower mids while keeping the Treble & Bass in tack between say 10:00 & 2:00. I was able to simulate it without the use of an inductor. I have never seen a similar tone circuit on an amp, and I have used it on the Stang Ray as well as the up and coming X Ray. Works very well with an EL 84 based amp to to the broad mid response of the EL 84's.

Welp, I’d say mission accomplished! Taking the wah control into consideration, I do hear an ever so slight wah type quack (in a good way) depending on where the tone knob is set. Especially with a Strat. It also reminds me of out of phase pickups but without the volume loss. Really slick!

Is that tone control not a variation of a T bridge tone circuit with a potentiometer in the mix? Whatever it is, in agreement with @hummanted I find it to be a very interesting and useful tone Control.
