I'm seeking recommendations for a manufacturer/seller of a Strat replacement neck. I'm hoping to identify a decent bang-for-the-buck neck that's $250 or less. I don't really want to spend $500 on a new fender-licensed neck. Thanks for any suggestions.

There’s a guy on Reverb name Tony who sells new Strat and Tele bodies and necks from Dillion. His shop is called Musicians Mate. I bought a Tele neck and it was well done. It fit perfectly in an ash body I had. Nice guy too and very responsive.

I bought a Warmoth neck for my '81 Strat (vintage/modern profile, roasted maple, 6105 frets, unfinished (i used TruOil on it), sperzel tuner routing, graphtech nut, etc.) and it's a great neck. It was $280 delivered.

I'll cast a vote for Warmoth. I have Warmoth Strat and Tele. Their necks are good by me and you can get different neck profiles, frets, woods and I think they're as good or better than Fender.

I also had very good service from Warmoth. They seem to have a lot more necks in stock than they had the last time I checked out their site. I think they are getting over the post-covid shortages.
You can get a pre-CBS strat neck, either in stock or build a custom one, unfinished with stainless frets for right around the $250 mark. Like Greg, I also got an unfinished neck. I rubbed it with boiled linseed oil. Came out great. Doing your own finish saves you $105 to $145. Good Luck

I should have mentioned it above. When I bought my neck, Warmoth's policy was they don't guarantee their unfinished necks. Why ... I have no idea. If the neck is going to warp, seems like it would warp whether it's sprayed with lacquer or not. So I upgraded to roasted quarter sawn. That added $100.

Musikraft makes a fine neck. Agree with above, apply your own finish and save some cake.

Yeah - Warmoth will only warranty necks they "hard finish" (for 2 years) or that the customer "hard finishes" (for 1 year). I've had my unfinished, TruOiled maple neck for almost 2 1/2 years and it's still straight as an arrow. And I live in the Southeast US (so, humid). I'm not sure I'd lose any sleep over not having the 2 year warranty apply. The unfinished, TruOil neck is ridiculously smooth and fast ... I've sanded off the finish of other necks to give them this treatment as well because it's so nice. That said, I resist playing outside and if/when I do, I take other guitars (not so much because of fear for the neck, but because this Strat is an '81 and I don't want to expose it to the harsh environment of a sweaty, outdoor gig -- that's what the Mexi Strat is for).

What Greg said. A roasted neck with an oil finish is the best feel, especially in a humid environment. It never feels sticky. And the cool thing about a roasted neck is, it's that roasted color all the way through the wood. So if you get a ding or a scratch in it, or just want to smooth it out a bit, just sand it a little and rub some more oil on it. And you're back to the original finish.
