You can even order a "custom" one to your specs to duplicate pretty much anything. Want a Chibanez or a chkramer, they're there for you.

Jeez, at least in the 70s the very talented Japanese manufacturers still used their brands and logos on their copies, which by the way, are nice guitars. These guys, not so much. Never played one, but just look at the neck plate on the PRS. Way out of sync.

So, based on your subject title, are you telling us that you're really "illy Gibbons" and not "Chilly?". Yea. I know. Stupid joke.
I guess if there's money to be made, they'll make the knock-off product. Plus, I suppose if they can do knock-off designer handbags, they can do guitars.

I worked on one of those Silver Sky copies in my shop recently...not as good as PRS's SE version, which is also made overseas! Cheaper hardware, cheaper plating, etc. The guy thought he had the real thing...didn't have the heart to tell him...

I've saw a Les Paul Custom at a recent show that was labeled copy. It looked very good. I wanted to take a screw driver and carve Fake on the body. I didn't. I don't like pirated movies or music and fake guitars are really bad too. If they want to make a copy rename it something else or at least put made in China or something on it so people have a chance. The dealer selling this particular guitar had it clearly labeled and priced like a copy but that does not prevent the person who bought it from ripping off the next person in line. my 2 cents, Todd

It’s kinda hard for me to imagine that any near-competent adult could legitimately claim to be fooled by one of these, for any number of reasons. And if they were I’d say it comes down to the principles of natural selection. The target market could be a lot of different things but I just don’t see much of an effort to defraud or any real cause for alarm. Could actually be fun for some 12-year old garage superstars wanting to mimic their heroes!
But that’s just my belief in personal responsibility coming to the surface.

not to mention its a federal crime to sell counterfeit goods. More importantly, given their history, i would not want tickle Gibson's tail to see if they bite.
