Hello everybody, new guy here looking to get a Z Wreck but I can't decide whether to get a head or a combo. I noticed the combo has speaker outs on the back, but can I just hook these up to a cab, if I ever need to? Is a head the way to go? Thanks!

You can hook up a combo to an external cab, you may need a 'Y' connection. The Head Vs. Combo see recent thread regarding that age old dilemma.

I’ve used an external Z 1x12 cab with my ZPlus using Todd’s (PCNS) Y cable with great result. See my avatar.

Tank is really not an exaggeration. These things are built to withstand a nuclear holocaust. Or many years of touring, whichever comes first!

Todd and PCNS is the way to go. He’s set me up with guitar cables, y cables, insert cables. “In Todd We Trust”

Whatever ohm rating your cab has, just plug it into the same speaker out on the combo chassis. If you want to run both cabs you need to sort the math and maybe the Y cable. I absolutely prefer the 2x12 gold/blue cab, but I have done a few shows with the head sitting on a cab with a single gold. The combo would be ideal if you do a wide range of shows and sometimes just need the simple small footprint. The single gold is not a major letdown vs the 2x12 at all.

Todd all the way. I have one of his Y cables as well and have used it to add a cab to a combo.

I skimmed the responses and it doesn't look like anyone's addressing the question of: If you want to use an external cabinet with a combo's amp....do you want to continue to use the combo's speaker? (using both combo's speaker and ext cab speaker at the same time)
If you want to use both, you will need the "Y" connector mentioned.
If you want to use the ext cab ONLY...then unplug the combo's speaker from the amp, and plug in the ext speaker. (Make sure you know the ohm/resistance of the ext cab and use the matching speaker jack on the back of the amp.

I use the PCNS Y cable a Happy Cab impedance box for my Lux combo when I want a “stack”. Works perfectly.
