Hello peeps. Just brought home my new Mk11 Z28 this week and did some comparing to my older Mk1 210 combo. I’ve owned about 4 Z28’s previously and have always missed them and keep coming back to that model as one of my favourite Z’s. I couldn’t resist ordering a new version. So my 210 combo was updated with a pair of Greenback 10’s by the previous owner and I have to say, I like them a lot. They tame the volume and add a nice warmth with lots of sweet mid emphasis. I’ve had them in a Maz 210 before and really like them. The new Z28 has the Creamback which I’ve also had in various amps including a Maz 112 so I had an idea that it would be similar to the greenbacks or at least in the same tone family. So all that to say, there is definitely a similarity to these two amps. More of a sweet familiarity. The mk11 feels more open and brighter with a tele but really warmed up with a Les Paul. It’s early honeymoon stage still but the amp is clearly a winner. Would love to hear more comparisons to the Mk1 from anyone who has been able to do a shootout. I can’t see parting with either of mine anytime soon. I have a ZWreck Jr as well with the newer style open cabinet and think Mike nailed the updated cabinet et design for sure. The older 210 is a bit more 2 dimensional in comparison.

I ran my mkii with Scumback 10’s (greenback and anniversary type) which was cool. But when I put a pair of Fat Jimmy 1025’s in it really opened up. It’s a Fender Brown era sound with a killer tone stack and master volume… at least that’s what I hear.

DRZ if Eminence can’t get you more Z12’s then maybe WGS can whip something up. Included an Alnico Version I love that speaker, it’s fantastic!

I have Z-28 mk1 that sounds fantastic with the Z12. I normally use it with a 2-10 cab loaded with Eminence Legends. I changed the phase inverter on the mk1 to a 5751 so it leans a smidge more into the blackface camp. I also have a MKII combo. They both sound great. As Faze said the MKII has a 3D sound that can't be beat. I can dial them in to sound very close but the MKII's 3-D sound is amazing.

I’m using two 1x12’s with my MKI to spread the sound out and it sounds pretty amazing. One loaded with a Tone Tubby 40/40 from 08 and the other with the original late 90’s Greenback. I’ll wait to hear one at the Z Gather, I’m 95% sure I will be in attendance.

Just did a quick a/b test. Dialed both the amps the same, Volume 9, treble and bass at noon(turned the master up all the way, so it was out of the picture.) The MKII had better bass sound. The best sound was both on at the same time. Turned them up to the 333 settings. Again the best sound was both on, but the MKII had a little more clarity vs the MKI.
