When I first bought my Jetta from Sweetwater I tried running my reverb and delay pedals through the effects loop. I noticed that when I hooked them up, the volume as well as some hiss and hum had increased. So I just decided to run all of my pedals into the front end of amp. Recently I changed power tubes and thought I’d try it again but the same result. The tone behind the hiss and hum is good…. Is this just part of the design or is there an issue? Side note: my reverb pedal has a hard style on/off switch.. when I click it on it makes a loud pop ( when through the effects loop )..when I am not using effects loop the amp is quieter and my pedals are not noisy.. Anyone else experience this? Hoss

Some pedals like to be in effects loops and some don’t. The signal coming from the send jack is pretty strong as it’s a line level signal. Unless the pedal can adapt to that, it may produce noise. Check with the reverb pedal manufacturer to see if they recommend it being in a loop.

I was just curious as to weather the issue was normal to tube drivin effects loops. Someone told me that switching preamp tubes to a lesser output tube might tame the noise issue..But don’t ‘need’ to use the effects loop for my verb or delay effects. They sound good in my pedal board and in the front end of the amp.. Brett ‘Hoss’ Mullins

I think the Jetta's loop has an internal adjustment that may help you get the volume issue sorted out, if you still want to try effects in the loop. You can check with Don or Frankie at Dr Z before you pull the chassis.

I’ve got an old analog delay , that I use to add a very modest lubricity to the tone. Factory setting does add a bit of gain/volume, that is awesome, especially with the Strat! No unwanted noise…..
