We had the pleasure of opening for Jimmie Vaughan this past weekend at Mercer Dancehall in Dripping Springs/Driftwood, TX (there was some controversy as to the exact locale of the place, but I digress). He's absolutely one of my heroes and rates in my top 5 favorite living guitar players. As if that wasn't enough, another one of my top 5 blues players, Anson Funderburgh, was in the house (and was kind enough to sit in with us). No pressure. *lol* So it was an ALMOST all-tweed affair, as you can see in the pic below, but my cream tolex/oxblood Z-Lux stood proud!

Not only is Anson a monster player, he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I'm proud to call him a buddy for the last, oh, 30 years or so. (I grew up in D/FW and started seeing him at the original Poor David's Pub locale some time in the late 80s).

I saw Anson in Chicagoland at least 30 years ago. Loved his playing, bought a cd or two but lost awareness over the years. Thanks for rekindling my interest with the mention of his name. Must’ve been a great gig.

I’ve seen Jimmy Vaughan many times, including the time he and Doyle Bramhall opened for Jimi Hendrix in 1968 with the Chessmen. I’ve also seen Anson Funderburgh many times. Both are great, inspiring players. Congratulations!
