I know that the 2amp fuse is a slow blo--is the 1/2 amp fuse also? Does Radio Shack carry? What is the purpose of the 1/2 amp--I mean, does it protect a separate element of the electronics? Any hep appreciated. Thanks.

Hey robt,
I have had my 1/2 amp fuse go on me and called the "Z factory" about the problem. The original fuse was fast-acting but I was told a slow-blow is ok too. I replaced it with a fast-acting fuse and needed to replace it one more time since. Everything has been fine for a couple of months now with steady use.
A set of 3 fast-acting costs under 3 bucks at radio shack, so having a few spares around is no big deal.
If you continue blowing your .5 amp fuse the Doc told me that a faulty rectifier tube is usually the case.
Hope this helps, but it never hurts to ask the Doc to verify if you are uncertain about something... who better to ask imo!

robt, I was blowing fuses in my Maz38 and the Good Doctor told me to get slo-blows. He said they'd work just fine. Never did get the fuses. I did replace the tube(s) causing the problem though. DougG

Thanks everybody. I haven't blown either fuse yet but wanted to know which type of 1/2 amp to get. I did have to replace a bad rectifier tube but other than that, all has been well. So, its a 2amp slo-blo and 1/2 amp fast-blo. Got it.

"The original fuse was fast-acting but I was told a slow-blow is ok too" ... "the Good Doctor told me to get slo-blows. He said they'd work just fine" billyguitar, don't worry.

The 1/2 amp is for standby. Keep one in your bag. Mine blew on my first gig with my Sr. and I didn't have another one. About two songs into the night the singer said I was right in his ear so I flipped the standby to move the amp and that was all she wrote. Had to finish the night with a transistor Fender amp. I haven't had a problem since (about a year) getting the fuses. Go figure.

I wasn't really worried. Every guitar amp I've ever had took slow blows. I get mine at Radio Shack. Keep them in the little packages because the writing on the fuse itself can be real tuff to read.

Redgl...thanks, that makes sense now. Standby. Got it. Karma to you. And Billy, you are SO right about keeping them in the packs--I hadda get magnifying lenses out (seriously) to pick out the 2s from the 3s in my tool box where they were lying loose. I tried to karma you as well but just learned that you can only do one an hour. Or, maybe I blew a karma fuse. I'll catch up with you on that later....
