WELL, I couldnt take it any longer. Like a kid in a candystore, I bookmarked the Z Websight, and studied it daily. They all sound so good on paper ! Finially, after searching for a dealer (closest one is about 2 hours away) and finding that most dealers coulnt keep any Z amp in stock long enuf for me to get there and try it, I just took the plunge, and ordered one sight unseen. A blonde maz 18 reverb single 12''. Well, it finially arrived. I found it to be a wonderfull amp. It excelled in my house. Now the real test..playing with a band. I sought out the best sounding band around and went to sit in with them. This guy has got a blackface deluxe that is really dialed in. Matched phase inverter caps, S.A.G. tubes, orange drops, etc. He wins the deluxe shootout everytime with it. I set my maz next to his deluxe and we compared and contrasted them in a live situation. Dr Z was clearly the winner. More tone, more clarity, more regeneration, more bottom end, there was no comparisn. When I pluged a petal into it , it morphed into a monster. Ive never experienced tone like that. It made everybodys jaw drop. "dude" "thats only 18 watts?" more headroom more drive. If your considering buying your first Z..... this is a great starting place. Plenty of muscle for small clubs, easily cuts thru the mix............man Im in tone heaven ! Ive owned many amps in my 30 years of playin.......but for me. its a Z. Looks like my other amps are gonna hit e-bay. I cant go back now that Ive tasted the real deal. Thank-you Dr. Z. All the talk of speakers and tubes here..I gotta tell ya...this thing rocks...right out of the box, with the stock speaker and tubes. Simply amazing tone.
