I was just on Doc's 'info" page when I noticed this: "Prices Effective 5/16/2022"
It seems to me prices got to go up at LEAST one a year now. So....maybe it's coming soon?

If you're on the fence, dive in now! That was my thought. Introductory pricing always ends!

Glad I just ordered up a new Z-28 Mk. II combo. Delivery on Sunday!

Just arrived this morning. Any time a delivery is delayed I get a bit nervous but the amp seems in fine shape. Only have played at apartment levels so far but I wanted to make sure all is working and appears just fine. Excited to take it to the practice space tomorrow night and see how it sounds opened up. And with pedals, of course.

Very exciting. I quite enjoyed hearing the speaker and amp break in over the weeks. The speaker loses its brittleness and congestion after 20 hours or so with low to moderate volume. This is one of the few amps that I’ve owned that no extra effects are needed to sound good but it loves them all the same.

Pretty good. Perhaps due to a new speaker or just cause the speaker is different, the sound is brighter than through my current 2x10 Dr. Z cabinet. Still finding my sound - volume and tone stack settings - but like it a lot. Love having a MV, for sure.

Not as loud as I expected, actually. Being that is listed as 30 watts vs Carmen Ghia 18. Even with MV all the way up, putting the volume where is normally sits on CG (9am) is not as loud. Any reason for this? Controls act differently? I mean, it will be plenty loud as just about always has a mic on it at a show, but am a little surprised.

I wouldn't worry where the controls are at all, and it's different because it's a different amp. A Ghia goes pretty loud, but I'm sure your Z28 goes louder if you want.
Theory on speaker break in, particularly the "brittle" part:
1. Some pretty famous and expensive studio monitors ask you to run fairly loud material through them (significant lows and dynamics) before evaluating the speakers (20+ hours). It allows the lows to extend deeper and the transients are louder because the transducer isn't so stiff. They basically say the speakers won't sound good until you do that. I don't see why that same principal wouldn't apply to any speaker.
2. This is something Dave Rat pointed out (sound guy, big sound company, look him up if you want credentials), but if you take say a 3 way pa and just play the high band, mid band, or low band, they all kind of sound really loud and hurt your ears in isolation. When you put them together, it no longer hurts your ears even though the sound level overall is technically louder. Point being the sound needs balance across the spectrum.
Putting those 2 things together, my theory is that the lows open up when the speakers break in which balances out the highs and now they don't sound so brittle. Like the highs didn't really get tamed, but the lows started to balance out the highs. Just a theory.

↑↑↑ That pretty much confirms what I've long believed. I would add that it's been my experience that speakers loosen up and sound good when 'broken in' with music material. Like Adam mentions, with heavy dynamics and low frequencies.
I've been down the rabbit hole of speaker break-in with transformers, putting 60 Hz signal into the speaker. I destroyed one doing that, and I followed the recommended procedure. Just running one tone at the same volume is really hard on the voice coil and doesn't work as well as something with kick drums/bass guitar in it.

Well, this thread has taken an interesting turn, but to get in on it as a crotchety old guy. Have a little patience and just play the darn amp until the speaker breaks in. You bought it to play didn't you? To me, doing all these "fancy" things to break in a speaker is like buying pre-distressed jeans. I want them worn out by my knees and arse not someone else's idea of them. I'm saving my view on reliced guitars for another time. Okay I'm not, why do folks want to get a reliced guitar that's not worn to their usage, but want their amp to look shiny new and get upset when there is a small tolex scuff? Sorry, I'm backing up from the ledge now to get some kids off of my lawn.
